The event brought together some of the most skilled and promising players, creating a competitive and thrilling atmosphere. Spectators witnessed intense matchups, dazzling displays of athleticism, and clutch performances as teams battled. Saturday saw several local standouts emerge.
Even without his trademark long locks, Lide was recognizable because of his play. The sharpshooter did more damage than I remember from inside the three point line. He completed several drives to the rim with some tough finishes. His addition of slashing only makes his overall offensive game more dynamic.
Look for Kuminga to be a stockriser and sleeper in the upcoming rankings. He showed flashes of dominance this weekend. The long, big rebounded well, especially in traffic, and he showed a nice touch out to about 18 feet. He has big upside and simple playing time and refining of his game should allow him to unlock it.
I was thoroughly impressed with Mcghee’s wiggle. The PG was easily able to seperate from defenders to create shots for himself. His quickness and tight handle give him a chance to be one of the highest ranked PG’s in his class when the new rankings are released.
I saw Taylor’s high school comp play under the same roof this weekend in EJ Spillman. Like the D1 prospect, Taylor has a physical frame combinded with guard skills. He overpowered people on the block, but it wasn’t with low post moves. The downhill slasher was able to bully opponents and finish through contact. He did a good job of rebounding in traffic, and showed a good IQ getting the ball out of his hands quickly when maning the high post against the zone.
Barber was one of the better defenders I saw during the day. He has the ability to dominate games with his on ball defense, as he straight up took the ball away for several players during the game I saw. The lefty is a game manager on offense, doing a good job of facilatating. His strength is no doubt on the defensive end, as he has the ability to be one of the top perimeter defenders in his class.
Highlights
Like what Koroma brought with his energy and athleticism. He was easlily able to defend all positions, causing havoc with his activity. His ability to get out and finish in transition was a game changer, as it led to several thunderous dunks from the bouncy forward.
