L 68-66 vs. Team Curry 16u
Chris Washington Jr. (FL) challenged everything at the rim. He reminds of Nerlens Noel back in the AAU days, but Washington Jr. looks to be more advanced offensively than Noel was. Washington Jr. embraces the physical side of the game on both ends. Like Washington Jr., Josiah Sanders played under the rim. Sanders is a forward from a small high school in North Carolina. Sanders is still acclimating to his role on the team. He plays with impressive agility though needs to resolve a touch of timidity.
Dorien Lyles Dorien Lyles 6'3" | SG Siegel | 2026 State TN was an integral part of a 5-0 run in the middle of the first half. A designed press break play included Lyles, who lobbed a perfect alley-oop to his dunking teammate to conclude it. Seconds later Lyles secured a challenged defensive rebound. An ensuing three-pointer by his teammate helped.
Later in the first half, Lyles was witness to two three-point makes as he defended. His team was playing a matchup zone, it appeared, and Lyles was checking a big at the free throw line when the ball outpaced him in traveling to an open shooter. He closed out quickly, but late.
Starting point guard Reid Conley Reid Conley 6'3" | PG Chattanooga Christian | 2026 State TN missed his only two shots of the first half, a pair of wing three-pointers. He did grab an offensive rebound. Conley played pretty consistently as a defender.
The second half start was poor, as BMaze took forgettable shots and then watched their opponents dash up the floor for dunks and layups. Coming out of a timeout, down 10, Reid Conley Reid Conley 6'3" | PG Chattanooga Christian | 2026 State TN took and missed a mid-range shot. He did track the miss, and poked the ball free to give his team a needed steal. They scored with the second bite of the apple.
Reid made his first three-pointer with just over 11 minutes left in the game, to give BMaze 40 total points. They desperately needed it at the time.
With 66 seconds left Reid Conley Reid Conley 6'3" | PG Chattanooga Christian | 2026 State TN walked to the free throw line. Buried two calmly. Down 67-64 afterwards. A missed front end later, BMaze pushed to try to eliminate the lead. Conley took an open wing three-pointer and missed. Fortunately his teammate collected the rebound and made a quick layup uncontested.
Team Curry split the pair. BMaze 16u pushed and called a timeout to design a play. Team Curry was in the lead 68-66 with 7.3 seconds remaining. BMaze missed their final attempt and time expired.
