We continue our Grassroots Spotlights series in April taking a look at another team out of the Richmond area, Team Marsh. The program has been around for a while and has produced quite a bit of collegiate talent over the past few years, and Head Coach William Yates has one of the most unique rosters featuring multiple available seniors as well as multiple 2026 playing up. Here's a look at their roster to start the season.

Xavier Paige | 5'9” PG | Thomas Dale 2024

Paige may not be the biggest guy, but he provides a lot of impact with his big time impact with his play on both ends of the floor. He's a pesky defender who moves his feet and jumps passing lanes, he sees the floor well with the ball in his hands and can create for others and he can knock down shots when he's left open consistently.

[player_tooltip player_id='1574509' first='Jayden' last='Brown'] | 6'4” CG | St. Anne's Belfield 2026

Brown is one of the most underrated players in the state as he plays on a STAB team that is loaded in the backcourt, but he's already shown this summer he can flat out play with the best of them. He has great size on the perimeter and may still be growing, he's a good athlete who can get downhill and play above the rim, he can handle the rock and make plays for himself and others and he is a very good defender too.

Charlie Miller | 6'1” WG | Benedictine 2025

Miller had a very good junior season for an up and coming Benedictine team, and he will bring a lot of toughness and skills to this TMB team this year. He is a crafty guard who can knock down shots from deep and has a quick release, he can put it on the deck and is a crafty finisher around the rim and he is a tough nosed guy who will sacrifice his body for his team.

Jayden Teasley | 6'4” SF | Thomas Dale 2024

Teasley is a late bloomer who had a great season for Thomas Dale and is still growing every time we see him, and he's already had a good showing this summer so far. The 6'4” wing is a big time athlete who can get downhill and play above the rim, he's an excellent defender who jumps passing lanes, he can knock down shots off the catch and he can put it on the deck and get downhill too.

Brent Thompson | 6'0” CG | Trinity Episcopal 2025

Thompson is the only returner for the TMB team after reclassifying to the 2025 class, and he's coming off a good season at TES where he was one of their leaders and top players. The 6'0” lefty is crafty and skilled as he can handle pressure and create shots off the bounce, he can knock down shots from deep, he has an excellent midrange game and has a high IQ on both ends of the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id='2175333' first='Mannie' last='Villegas'] | 6'8” C | Benedictine 2026

Villegas is one of the more intriguing young prospects in the Richmond area, and as another part of the young talented Benedictine team he has shown a lot of flashes of what he can be. At 6'8” he has a great frame that should fill out nicely, he gets up and down the floor well, he's a good finisher in traffic and above the rim and he shows good touch out to the midrange as well.

Brandon Hill | 5'10” PG | Carver 2025

Hill had a big junior season for Carver this year, and while he isn't the biggest guy he can fill it up in bunches and make plays on the ball. He is shifty off the bounce with the ability to break down defenders, he can score the ball from all three levels and he's a good defender who can guard the ball and jump passing lanes too.

Sam Faniel | 6'6” F | Benedictine 2026

Faniel is another player from Benedictine on this team that is playing up, and the 6'6” hybrid forward and two sport star has a lot of intriguing qualities to his game. At his size he's a walking mismatch with his athleticism and ball skills on the perimeter, he can drill shots from deep off the catch and he can make plays around the rim on both ends of the floor.

Tyson Marsh | 6'4” F | Carver 2025

Marsh was another player who had a big season for Carver this year, averaging a double-double and dominating on a regular basis. While he may be a little undersized in the post he plays with a great motor and a lot of physicality creating space, he is a very good finisher around the rim and he rebounds and protects the rim against bigger players regularly.

Hoaxing Huang | 6'7” PF | St. Anne's Belfield 2026

Huang came to STAB from China this season, and while he's still a bit raw he'll get a lot of reps this summer playing up and he has a lot of tools that are intriguing moving forward. At 6'7” he's a big time athlete with a good frame that should fill out, he can get out in transition and play above the rim effortlessly and he has a lot of room to get better moving forward.
