Here’s a look at part three of the top guards in the class, ranking the top 5 point and combo guards in the sophomore class.
5) Anthony Brown Anthony Brown 6'1" | PG Paul VI | 2026 State VA | 6’1” PG | Paul VI (#9 Overall)
While Brown came off the bench this year for one of the top teams in the country, he likely would have started anywhere else in the state and has already shown his ability as a lead guard to the tune of multiple division one offers. The 6’1” guard has a strong build and knows how to use his body when he gets in the paint, and he plays with great pace and the ability to change speeds and directions. He sees the floor extremely well and can deliver on point passes with both hands, he scores it well in the midrange and he can knock down open shots from deep too.
4) Silas Devonish Silas Devonish 5'9" | PG Bishop Ireton | 2026 State VA | 5’9” PG | Bishop Ireton (#7 Overall)
While Devonish is almost always the smallest player on the court, it really doesn’t matter because he plays with such tenacity and is consistently productive getting the better of whatever guard is put in front of him. He’s a true hooper who leaves it all on the court every time he’s out there, and he has a mix of athleticism and skill that makes him an absolute nightmare to matchup with. He has in the gym range and great confidence with the ability to knock down deep shots both off the catch and off the bounce, he has good speed and strength in transition to finish when he gets downhill and he’s an absolute pest on the defensive end as well.
3) Styles Clemmons Styles Clemmons 6'2" | PG Princess Anne | 2026 State VA | 6’1” PG | Princess Anne (#6 Overall)
Clemmons has already become perhaps the best player in the Beach in his two seasons at Princess Anne immediately turning them into a contender, and he has a very bright future moving forward with his tools and natural ability. He is the ultimate downhill attacking guard who has a lightning quick first step and can break down defenders and get to the rim where he uses his strength and craft to finish. He’s excellent in ball screens and makes good decisions, he has a shifty handle to create space and he’s becoming a more consistent shooter from deep as well.
2) Darius Bivins Darius Bivins 6'0" | PG Alexandria City | 2026 State VA | 6’0” PG | Alexandria City (#5 Overall)
Bivins was part of perhaps the best backcourt in NOVA public school this year, and moving forward he’ll have the ball in his hands regularly and that in itself is going to be a show every time he’s on the floor. He is a wizard with the ball in his hands as he is quick and slippery off the bounce, allowing him to break down defenders both in isolation and in pick-and-roll scenarios. He scores the ball efficiently from all three levels, he has great vision and a high IQ as a playmaker who sees the game ahead of everyone else and he is a very smart defender as well.
1) Jordan Smith Jordan Smith 6'1" | PG Evergreen Christian | 2025 VA Jr. | 6’3” CG | Paul VI (#1 Overall)
The only underclassman to start on this nationally ranked PVI group along with 4 committed seniors, Smith has showed time and time again that he can impact the game across the board without having to be the focal point offensively. He’s one of the best defenders not just in his class or in the state, but one of the best I’ve seen in VA over the past 8 or so years I’ve been doing this. He has go-go-gadget arms and is a big time athlete who can get deflections, block shots and rebound using his high motor as well. He can play on or off the ball and knows how to work to get open, he is an unselfish playmaker, he plays well above the rim already and he can score the ball efficiently from all over the court too.
