Then, on Wednesday night, we finished off the first round matchups before the semifinals were played on Friday. Unfortunately, this time of year also means that teams will see their seasons come to an end. Half of the 256 teams that suited up on Friday night won’t get a shot to play for a championship this. Now, we will watch 64 teams cut down the nets and earn a spot in the Regional round. That is the exciting and heartbreaking dichotomy of this time of year. As always, Prep Hoops Indiana will be your one stop shop for everything you need to know throughout the 114th Annual IHSAA Boys Basketball Tournament. Let’s take a look at the 10 best matchups on a championship Saturday night.
#10 Orleans vs. Barr-Reeve (Sectional 63 @ Loogootee)
Watching a game at Jack Butcher Arena should be on the bucket list of any Indiana High School Basketball fan. What better time to catch a game than the Sectional 63 championship between two Class 1A Top 10 teams? Junior Rylan Crocker Rylan Crocker 6'0" | SG Orleans | 2025 IN leads Orleans averaging 14.4 points per game while Barr-Reeve has three players, Braydon Knepp (11.4), Donnie Miller (11.3), and Seth Wagler Seth Wagler 6'1" | PG Barr-Reeve | 2025 IN (11.1) averaging in double-figures.
Indianapolis Lutheran vs. Greenwood Christian (Sectional 59 @ Indianapolis Lutheran)
The defending Class 1A state champions will have revenge on their mind this evening. Indianapolis Lutheran lost to Greenwood Christian 55-47 all of the way back on December 9th. That was the Saints only loss to a Class 1A opponent this season. Watching Lonte Ward and Max Booher Max Booher 6'3" | SG Greenwood Christian | 2024 State IN battle it out in the backcourt will be worth the price of admission.
Blackhawk Christian vs. Bishop Luers (Sectional 37 @ Bluffton)
Two teams that are no stranger to postseason success will go head-to-head this evening in Sectional 37 at Bluffton High School. Blackhawk Christian got 21 points a piece from Isaac Smith Isaac Smith 6'6" | SG Blackhawk Christian | 2024 State IN and Kellen Pickett Kellen Pickett 6'9" | PF Blackhawk Christian | 2025 State #108 Nation IN on Friday night to advance to the championship game. Meanwhile, Bishop Luers relies heavily on talent junior twin guards Dereon Truesdale Dereon Truesdale 6'3" | SG Bishop Luers | 2025 State IN and Drelyn Truesdale Drelyn Truesdale 6'3" | SG Bishop Luers | 2025 State IN .
Jeffersonville vs. New Albany (Sectional 15 @ Seymour)
A classic rivalry game in one of the best venues to enjoy Indiana High School Basketball. Jeffersonville won the regular season battle 65-57, but will need another big night from their junior trio of Michael Cooper Michael Cooper 6'2" | PG Jeffersonville | 2025 State IN , Tre Singleton Tre Singleton 6'7" | PF Jeffersonville | 2025 State #225 Nation IN , and P.J. Douglas P.J. Douglas 6'4" | SF Jeffersonville | 2025 State IN . New Albany has a talented Class of 2025 prospect of their own in Chris Lampkins Chris Lampkins 6'5" | SF New Albany | 2025 State IN . It is always a fun matchup when these two teams get together.
Evansville Memorial vs. Evansville Bosse (Sectional 32 @ Boonville)
Over in the Pocket City, fans will be treated to an excellent matchup between two of the best teams in the area battling for the Sectional 32 championship at Boonville High School. Bosse got the better of Memorial back in December, 62-60, but Memorial has won 10 straight games heading into this rematch.
Greenfield-Central vs. New Palestine (Sectional 9 @ Greenfield-Central)
Indiana’s lone undefeated team, 24-0 Greenfield-Central, is seeking their first Sectional championship since 1998. In order to win it though, they will have to go through junior guard Julius Gizzi Julius Gizzi 6'3" | SG New Palestine | 2025 State IN and the New Palestine Dragons. Gizzi is one of few players in the state with a higher scoring averaging than Braylon Mullins Braylon Mullins 6'6" | SG Greenfield-Central | 2025 State #123 Nation IN as the two prospects average 29.5 and 25.7 points per game respectively.
Brownstown Central vs. Providence (Sectional 46 @ Southwestern Hanover)
Arguably the two best teams in Class 2A will battle it out to cut down the nets in Sectional 46 at Southwestern (Hanover) High School. These two are ranked #1 and #2 in the latest Prep Hoops Indiana Class 2A Poll and certainly are no stranger to one another. Purdue signee Jack Benter Jack Benter 6'4" | SG Brownstown Central | 2024 State #121 Nation IN and company got the better of the Pioneers 68-55 early on in the regular season. In last year’s Sectional, the Braves won 44-42. Noah Lovan Noah Lovan 6'3" | PG Providence | 2024 State IN , Quentin Hesse Quentin Hesse 6'2" | SG Providence | 2024 State IN , and Providence will look to get over the hump tonight.
Guerin Catholic vs. Brebeuf Jesuit (Sectional 27 @ Guerin Catholic)
Similar to Class 2A, in Class 3A you can make a strong argument it’ll be the two best teams playing in the Sectional 27 championship game. Brebeuf is ranked #1 while Guerin is #2 in the latest Prep Hoops Indiana Class 3A Poll. Butler signee Evan Haywood Evan Haywood 6'4" | SG Brebeuf Jesuit | 2024 State #231 Nation IN and the Braves defeated Robert Sorensen Robert Sorensen 6'0" | PG Guerin Catholic | 2024 State IN and the Golden Eagles 59-50 back in mid-January. This will be on their rivals home floor this time around though.
Lawrence North vs. Cathedral (Sectional 10 @ Lawrence North)
Two Top 10 Class 4A teams will go head-to-head in the always loaded Sectional 10 at Lawrence North High School. The host Wildcats came from behind to defeat Crispus Attucks on Friday night. Azavier Robinson Azavier Robinson 6'1" | PG Lawrence North | 2025 State #88 Nation IN and Kobi Bowles Kobi Bowles 6'2" | PG Lawrence North | 2024 State IN make up the most dynamic backcourt in the state, but Cathedral has the fire power to keep up. If the Fighting Irish cut down the nets, expect 6’8″ junior wing Brady Koehler Brady Koehler 6'9" | SF Cathedral | 2025 State #199 Nation IN to be the difference.
Noblesville vs. Fishers (Sectional 8 @ Noblesville)
The best game in the state of Indiana. After two games in front of a sold out crowd on Friday night, Noblesville will once again host 4,200 fans for the Sectional 8 championship game this evening. Fishers is ranked #2 in the Prep Hoops Indiana Class 4A Poll while Noblesville is #3. Fishers won 66-59 when these two met back in December, but the Millers were incredibly impressive in their win over Westfield last evening.
