With all the action from this exciting sectional week, there were a ton a of great performances from our in-state prospects that really showed the talent they have. For myself, I was able to get out and watch games from Sectionals 8, 9, and 10. Below are my standouts from Sectional Week Part 3. Still two more days of Sectional action!
This was the Julius Gizzi Julius Gizzi 6’3″ | SG New Palestine | 2025 State IN show on Saturday night in the sectional 9 championship. While he started off just a tad slow, Gizzi caught fire in the 2Q and never looked back. He finished with a game-high 31 points and did a fantastic job of going 11-of-15 at the free throw line. He hit two threes on the night the as well and was really good about creating shots on the ball and playing with a good motor. It would have been fun to see him go up against a healthy Mullins, but Gizzi was super fun to watch here nonetheless. Impressive showing.
Tuesday night, I had boots on the ground for Sectional which saw the complete dominance from Noblesville to Zionsville. Miller senior guard Aaron Fine Aaron Fine 6’3″ | PG Noblesville | 2024 State IN was a big part of that dominance. Fine finished with 18 points scoring at all areas on the floor and playing like that composed guard he normally plays like. With the success that Noblesville has had this season, Fine has been the constant for them.
Walston continues to be one of the more versatile players in the entire state when it comes to high school boys basketball. Was able to watch him on Tuesday night in the first round of Sectional 8 and while he only ended up with 11 points, it’s the impact that he has everywhere else is what make him standout. He defends all areas of the floor, makes great passes, and can score consisnelty. He is the type of team player you want you team because of his unselfishness on the floor to do whatever it takes to win games. He had a great Sectional week overall.
Highlights
While the big three of the Millers of Fine, Walston, and Curry get a lot of the focus, one of the key parts to this Noblesville team is sophomore guard Baron Walker Baron Walker 6’1″ | PG Noblesville | 2026 State IN . When I watched him last week, he made some key plays for Noblesville hitting some tough shots and defending at a high level and disrupting the passing lanes at times. He is a very good ball handler with athleticism and strength to play through contact and finish consistently at the rim while also being able to hit the outside shot, as well. He finished with 11 points on Tuesday.
Another high level, long-term prospect that is a part of Sectional 8 is the electric 2026 wing, Justin Curry II Justin Curry II 6’4″ | SG Noblesville | 2026 State IN . With his combination of length, athletic ability, and shooting prowess, he is a immediate standout when on the floor and is a guy that can make the highlight plays. With Fine and Walston doing a lot of the work, it takes the pressure off of Curry to settle in each game and play his style. He defended well along with his entire teams and made some big time plays throughout Sectional 8. He finished with 11 points in the game vs Zionsville I watched last week.
Highlights
Mullins had the highest of highs and the lowest of lows this week for any player. While the highs consisted of averaging 17.0 points in three Sectional games, the lows were that he battled through numerous injuries while trying to lead Greenfield-Central to their first Sectional championship since 1998. Injuries aside, Mullins put on a show this past week scoring at all levels on the floor with multiple high major coaches in attendance to check out this exciting prospect. He has a lot to proud of this week because watching him play through injuries was one of the toughest things a player his age can do.
Highlights
When the injuries caught up to Mullins, Robertson was one of those players that I felt took a step forward and became a leader on the floor. In the games I was in attendance in, he hit some big time shots and I thought he was real active on the defensive end as well. He finished with 12 points to cap off his high school career.
Boston Willard (Greenfield-Central, 2025, 5’9, G) – Willard continues to really impress me every time I see him and I truly feel he is one of the more under-the-radar guards in the class of 2025 in the state. He plays so well off of Mullins and is a guy that Greenfield-Central can rely on to make big shots as well, which he did this past week in Sectional 9. He is a short, scrappy guard that moves well on the ball and can find ways to get away from his defender to get a shot off. He and Mullins will make one of the best backcourts in the state next season.
Dallas Freeman (Greenfield-Central, 2025, 6’3, F) – Freeman was another player that I thought stepped up big time with Mullins fighting his injuries. In the Sectional 9 championship game, he scored a team-high 15 points and when things looked to be out of reach for the Cougars, he would make big plays to keep them in it. Real physical forward that likes to bang down low while also having the ability to hit shots from the outside, which he did three times on Saturday.
