Camp MVP: O’Brian Lowery Jr. | Gaston Day | 2028
Lowery hit another gear by the end of the day with his abilities at the lead guard position. He was a top scorer on the day after leading his team to the championship game and took over in a big way to spark a run in the championship game. He’s crafty off the bounce and fearless getting to the rim/painted area. Defensively, he was even more of a terror with his ability to force turnovers and create opportunities off the break. He’s a guard to get familiar with at Gaston Day given his quickness and speed with the ball in his hands.
Top Defender: Jacob Osornio | Foothills Community School | 2028
Osornio was a terror defensively and stood out with his effort level throughout the day. He set quite the tone with his ability to find his man defensively and make things difficult for opponents. He’s fearless with a good feel for where to be and how to make an impact on the ball. He’s got a good feel/read on when to force opponents into situations that benefit him. As he comes along offensively, he’ll be an intriguing prospect to watch given his skill set.
Top Shooter: Justin Gray Jr. | Smoky Mountain Middle | 2028
Gray is a floor general who got hot in a hurry down the stretch of their championship victory to boost his squad. He showed off his ability to operate off the bounce with his ability to knock down shot after shot on the perimeter as he knocked down five 3-pointers in the title game. He’s a crafty lead guard with the shooting prowess already on the perimeter and good length as well at 6-foot-1 to operate at the guard spot. He’s got a bright future ahead of him as a prospect to keep eyes on in the 2028 class in the West.
