(Note: this is not at all a definitive list, just part of an ongoing series to highlight some New York natives who are deserving of being recruited)
Sprattley is a prototypical undersized NYC point guard. Armed with a quick first step, a quick release and range out past the three point line, guarding Sprattley has been more than a one man chore for most of this season. His ability to create off the dribble as well as shoot off the dribble make him very hard to guard. Sprattley’s season resumes on March 5th for schools who want to get one look in before the high school season ends.
The Long Island native’s transfer to Willston has paid dividends, as he as been given the keys of a talented team that has played a tougher schedule than if he had stayed on the island. A high IQ guard who was already building on a strong summer, it’s been a steady ascent for Edmead over the past year. It is going to be interesting to see how his recruitment develops playing with the Rens on the EYBL circuit this Spring
The most “high profile” name on this list, and certainly the currently most highly recruited- James has backed all of it up. After transferring to LuHi from Cushing Academy, the Long Island native looks right at home running the offense for the NIBC powerhouse. Armed with newfound athleticism to go with his already dependable shooting and high IQ, James has proven himself to be one of the best point guards in the state and in the Northeast.
Anthony was fantastic in winning the Diocesan tournament last Friday and has been for a large majority of this season. The 6-foot lead guard finds a way to impact the game whether he is scoring or not and understands how to control an offense. St. Francis has really hit their stride in the past couple of weeks and look very dangerous heading into quarterfinals on Saturday. A big end of the season could set him up for a “breakout” spring.
New York’s current leading scorer has been putting up about 37 points a game this season just outside of Syracuse. The central New York standout has a quick first step and an advanced scoring package. He was productive playing with Crown Basketball last AAU season, and could open eyes again this Spring if he can continue his strong play.

As the youngest member of the class of 2025 on this list, there’s always the chance that Barry ultimately opts to take a post-grad year and hit the college ranks in 2026. That being said, he already possesses a great feel for the game and he’s very creative off the dribble.
