New York vs New York: Opening Night

New York vs New York opened up their annual summer event this past Tuesday and despite the massive amount rain they were still able to play. The first matchup was Watson against&nbsp;Tri-State followed by West 4th against Gersh at the Major Owens Community Center.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Watson 62 Tri-State 59</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Watson was able to come away victorious after they got a game winning triple from their star point guard, Juice Bontemps who plays at the St. James Academy. He bad a big night, scored a variety of ways, broke down the defense consistently and when his team needed him he stepped up for Watson. Have to also mention [player_tooltip player_id='2780666' first='Skye' last='Ragoo'], a 2028 standout guard from Christ the King who was lights out on Tuesday. Bontemps and Ragoo have plenty of star power to keep Watson in the win column and it was be exciting to see if this duo can continue their momentum.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>West 4th 66 Gersh 62</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This game didn't have the drama the first game did but there were plenty of crazy highlights and good performances. There were some big slams, tough buckets, deep threes and good basketball. Gersh had some terrific play from their big man but West 4th just had too much. 2027 stand outs Greyson Pierce from St. Thomas Moore and Josiah Adamson from Cats Academy are game changers. Pierce looked like a top 50 player in the nation with his athleticism, skill set and consistency. Adamson is another player that needs more national attention especially with his size and quickness for a guard.
