Check out some of the best shooters from this season from the 2A schools below.
Baker is an impact guard that has been on our radar for many years now with East Carteret as a volume scorer and shooter. His 74 threes led his entire 2A East classification, and a 35% clip with how many tough, tough shots he takes is impressive. His ability to knock a shot down off the dribble is above many others, especially with his quickness and agility to worm through defenders. He’s a priority pickup for a local program this spring.
Roberts could be a late, great add to a local D3 or JuCo program with his ability to space the floor and create his own shot. With 64 made threes at a 43% mark on the year, he’s shown he likes to get his buckets from the perimeter. With a smooth release, any standstill catch and shoot jumper is pretty much an automatic three points He’s got offers from most D3 programs in the area, such as Guilford, Johnson and Wales, and Brevard, where he would be an impact addition.
Highlights
Barnes has been the perfect running mate this season for the Panthers of North Johnston, operating as a mini marksman from the perimeter. Playing both on and off the ball, Barnes has knocked down 72 threes on 147 attempts, reuslting in almost a 50% mark from behind the arc. His precision shows he can be a reliable spot up threat, but also that he will score in volume some nights, always good for around 15 points a game.
Mcknight has been torching the nets for North Surry as the lead man this season, knocking down 84 threes so far on the season. With them going in at a 40% clip, he continues to show why he’s a top shooter both in the 2A class and the Triad area. He’s very comfortable shooting it on the catch or the move, especially when he gets a little room to get his shot off.
Wilkerson was a finalist for conference POY here at PrepHoops, and part of that had to do with his uber-efficient outside shooting this season for Walkertown. He operated as a primary scorer, but got a lot of open threes that he knocked down at a 53% clip, one of the most efficient in the entire class. As he approaches the end of his time with Walkertown, he should be on college radars because of his versatile scoring ability as well as his ability to knock down the open three.
