Prep Hoops Indiana Sectional Preview – Class 3A South

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We are just a week away from the beginning of the 114th Annual IHSAA Boys Basketball State Tournament. On Sunday evening we received brackets for the Sectional round as teams learned how their path to Gainbridge Fieldhouse would begin. We will spend the week here at Prep Hoops Indiana going in-depth across the state touching on all 64 Sectionals. When looking at the seven teams listed in this group, all have at least 10 wins on the year with six of the seven teams all above .500. The team with the sub-.500 record, Lincoln, got the by and all the other first round matchups can go either way and the one that stands out the most is the Heritage Hills/Princeton matchup, the two likely favorites. Needless to say, it would be easy getting out of Sectional 31 and the team that does will be battle-tested come Regionals. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Under-the-Radar Sectional</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Sectional 27 could have made a strong case as the toughest Sectional in Class 3A South given the talent and teams listed in this group but since we find Sectional 31 to be even tougher given the balance, Sectional 27 gets most under-the-radar. The two teams that immediately standout here are Brebeuf Jesuit and Guerin Catholic --- the team that repented the south last year in the 3A State Championship --- who both sit on the opposite side of the brackets. Two teams that also have a fighting chance in this one, Bishop Chatard and Heritage Christian, received byes so they got a good advantage there. Brebeuf has already played four of these teams in Sectional and didn't lose to any of them so they have the advantage in that regards.
