We are just a week away from the beginning of the 114th Annual IHSAA Boys Basketball State Tournament. On Sunday evening we received brackets for the Sectional round as teams learned how their path to Gainbridge Fieldhouse would begin. We will spend the week here at Prep Hoops Indiana going in-depth across the state touching on all 64 Sectionals. Let's begin by taking a look at the eight Sectionals that make up the Class 3A North.

Class 1A North Preview

Class 1A South Preview

Class 2A North Preview

Class 2A South Preview

The Brackets

Sectional 17 (Calumet): Hanover Central vs. Lake Station, Calumet vs. River Forest, Boone Grove vs. Hammond Noll, Griffith vs. Highland

Sectional 18 (Tippecanoe Valley): Culver Academy vs. John Glenn, Knox vs. Tippecanoe Valley, Bremen vs. Winner Game 1

Sectional 19 (South Bend Washington): South Bend Washington vs. Mishawaka Marian, New Prairie vs. Jimtown, South Bend St. Joseph vs. Winner Game 1, South Bend Clay vs. Winner Game 2

Sectional 20 (Lakeland): Wawasee vs. Lakeland, Fairfield vs. West Noble, NorthWood vs. Winner Game 1

Sectional 21 (Woodlan): Fort Wayne Concordia vs. Garrett, Heritage vs. Fort Wayne Dwenger, Woodlan vs. Leo, Angola vs. Winner Game 1

Sectional 22 (Frankfort): Western vs. Twin Lakes, Benton Central vs. West Lafayette, Frankfort vs. Rensselaer Central, North Montgomery vs. Winner Game 1

Sectional 23 (Mississinewa): Mississinewa vs. Bellmont, Maconaquah vs. Oak Hill, Norwell vs. Peru, Northwestern vs. Winner Game 1

Sectional 24 (New Castle): Centerville vs. Yorktown, New Castle vs. Jay County, Frankton vs. Delta, Hamilton Heights vs. Winner Game 1

Toughest Sectional

This was a pretty easy choice here as Sectional 23 at Mississinewa because realistically, any team could come out of this one. All seven teams listed here all have a winning records and at least 11 wins on the season. Northwestern has the slight edge here because they were the team that received a bye but will also face either the host Mississinewa or the slight favorite in Belmont. The bottom bracket of Maconaquah, Oak Hill, Norwell, and Peru, it is pretty much any one's game down there. Probably one of the more tough Sectionals to pick a winner in this season.

Under-the-Radar Sectional

The under-the-radar group in the Class 3A North and one that probably has the most talent in it is Sectional 19. When you have a Sectional that features top tier players in the state like junior wing [player_tooltip player_id='1297002' first='Chase' last='Konieczny'] and sophomore shooting guard [player_tooltip player_id='1561449' first='Steven' last='Reynolds III'], you are always going to get some shine. However, there are some teams here that could make a run here as both semifinal games have a chance to be really good. Really the only team that does not have a chance in this one is New Prairie but all the rest have at least a fighting chance to make it out of Sectional 19. Mishawaka Marian stand 5-0 against sectional teams so the potential matchup between them and SBSJ could be who gets out of Sectional 19. Don't sleep on teams such as Jimtown, South Bend Washington, and South Bend Clay, as well.

Players to Watch

[player_tooltip player_id='1157213' first='Jaedin' last='Reyna'] (Hammond Noll), [player_tooltip player_id='2282450' first='Caleb' last='Parks'] (Hammond Noll), [player_tooltip player_id='1981703' first='Stephen' last='Akase'] (Tippecanoe Valley), [player_tooltip player_id='1189495' first='Riley' last='Shepherd'] (Tippecanoe Valley), [player_tooltip player_id='1561449' first='Steven' last='Reynolds III'] (South Bend Washington), [player_tooltip player_id='1297002' first='Chase' last='Konieczny'] (South Bend St. Jospeh), [player_tooltip player_id='1297122' first='Tyler' last='Raasch'] (NorthWood), [player_tooltip player_id='1158230' first='Cole' last='Hayworth'] (Concordia), [player_tooltip player_id='1272450' first='Jackson' last='McGee'] (Leo), [player_tooltip player_id='1297036' first='Hunter' last='Sisson'] (Benton Central), [player_tooltip player_id='1747066' first='Josiah' last='Ball'] (Maconaquah), [player_tooltip player_id='1158198' first='Matthew' last='Roettger'] (Peru), [player_tooltip player_id='1158183' first='Kieran' last='Tewari'] (Yorktown), [player_tooltip player_id='1275729' first='D'Amare' last='Hood'] (Delta), [player_tooltip player_id='1275750' first='Tillman' last='Etchison'] (Hamilton Heights)

Predictions

Sectional 17 - Hammon Noll

Sectional 18 - Tippecanoe Valley

Sectional 19 - South Bend St. Joseph

Sectional 20 - NorthWood

Sectional 21 - Concordia

Sectional 22 - Twin Lakes

Sectional 23 - Bellmont

Sectional 24 - Delta
