Today, we start our positional breakdowns with a look at some of the top point/combo guards in the newly released rankings.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2334901' first='Chase' last='Branham'] (Logan-Rogersville): A talented 6'3 point guard who is very poised with his playmaking skills and ability to score from all three levels. He has a high basketball IQ and he can create offense off the dribble with his smooth handles. He has helped lead Rogersville to a 19-3 record and a Top 10 ranking in Class 4.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2334926' first='Kyrese' last='Simpson'] (Hillcrest, pictured): A 5'8" point guard who has played with a lot of poise and savvy on the varsity level with his high basketball IQ. He has good quickness and a nice change of pace game which enables him to get into the lane and score in traffic. He is excellent playing off two feet. He can also drop a nice dime to an open teammate. He is currently averaging 12 points, three rebounds and two assists a game.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2334930' first='Brandon' last='Rooks'] (Battle): A 5'11" point guard is one of the top young players in the Mid-Mo area. He has broken into a very talented lineup to provide some excellent offensive boost with his perimeter shooting. He can knock down shots from 3-point range and he can create off the dribble and score in the lane.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2348207' first='Joseph' last='Aghaeze'] (Whitfield): A 5'10" point guard knows how to control pace and tempo without letting himself get sped up. He's a one man press breaker who can distribute the ball and get a bucket at all three levels. He is averaging 13 points, three rebounds and three assists a game while shooting 41 percent from 3-point range.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2334929' first='Will' last='Foulk'] (DeSmet): A 5'10" point guard who is getting solid minutes for a Spartans team that is currently 19-4 and ranked No. 5 in Class 5. He's fearless when he is driving into the lane and he can also pull up and hit the 3-pointer. He also has slick handles and he can create off the dribble.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2334945' first='Tra' last='Moore'] (Staley): A 5'10" point guard with good speed and quickness who also excels on the defensive end. He has good defensive instincts and he uses his quick hands to hawk the ball. He can also play off the ball and knock down open 3-pointers.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2338877' first='Karson' last='Gerdeman'] (St. Charles West): A 5'11" point guard who had a big debut with 14 points in the Warriors' victory over rival St. Charles in the season-opener. He is an excellent ball handler with a high basketball IQ with 3-points shooting range. He is currently averaging nine points, four assists and two steals a game. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
