Expert Analysis
Daniel Siehndel | Prep Hoops Scout
Rooks’ run of scoring continued in Tulsa — there just isn’t much he can’t do offensively. While he’s consistently shown the ability to create space and get to his shot seemingly at will, it was his finishing and movement away from the ball that added another layer to his game over the weekend. He found space in and around the basket and used his body well to absorb contact while still creating clean looks. He’s also becoming more active in the open floor, putting pressure on defenders and showing he’s not shy about attacking the basket in transition. Brandon continues to look every bit like a premier playmaker and shot creator with the ball in his hands, and with that production came his first Division I offer. As he continues to play this summer, more programs should join the mix as they look for lead guards who can both create and score.

While Rooks was streaky over the weekend, he had stretches where his offensive package really came to life, and his ability to take and make tough shots was noticeable. Crafty with the dribble and elusive enough to create space, he found openings in the defense and was able to shoot it effectively from both the mid-range and behind the arc. His range is deeper than most, and his stroke stays consistent. While he was used as an effective, attacking primary ball handler, he also showed well off the ball — using screens and different actions to free himself up for open looks or downhill attacks. If Brandon can continue to add to his frame, improve his quickness in tight spaces, and take the next step defensively, it should pay dividends as he continues to move forward.

The 2027 point guard was one of the top player at the event that I watched. No doubt about it. His ability to score in so many ways was on clear display. He was rocking defenders to sleep then dropping 3s. He could either change speeds or blow by people for layups. He was money from all three levels.

A 6’0″ point guard who had an excellent week in helping the Spartans to the tournament championship. He is a smooth playmaker with an excellent feel for the game along with three level scoring ability. He was breaking down defenders off the dribble to create shots while always moving at his own pace. He was very hard to speed up. His fundamentals are very good and he can also play with a little flair in his game.
