Aiden Wanrow
About Aiden
Expert Analysis

Wanrow was undoubtedly one of the most intriguing prospects in Kansas City. A true do-it-all forward, Aiden played a positionless brand of basketball, showing he’s comfortable doing whatever is needed and skilled enough to impact the game in a variety of ways. He ran the floor well, getting up and down the court with a combination of power and speed in transition. Aiden played well above the rim with noticeable explosiveness and embraced physicality. In the half court, he has the ability to post smaller defenders, slash off the wing, and even stretch the floor with his perimeter shooting. Aiden, a two-way player, also impressed defensively, creating turnovers and forcing mistakes with a rugged style of play in the paint while still being able to switch onto perimeter players and shoot gaps. A definite stock riser, I fully expect multiple college programs to show interest and extend offers his way over the next few months.

Wanrow is a player who is full of promise, and this was his first varsity season after having to sit out last year due to CHSAA rules, and he made the most of it. Wanrow led Brighton to one of their best overall seasons in school history as they won their conference with an undefeated record, and the 6’8 wing was phenomenal on the season. Wanrow averaged 19.2 points and 11.4 rebounds a game. He had 16 double-doubles on the season, recorded a triple-double, and showed that he’s a versatile player who impacts winning. I enjoy watching how Wanrow can fill it up in ways beyond scoring. He’s a two-way standout with good size, he reads the floor and makes the right play, and put up a season where he showed why he’s a top 5 player in the class.

With recent offers from Cal, Utah Tech, and Northern Colorado, Aiden has firmly established himself as a top-100 national recruit with a sky-high ceiling. Over the past year, he’s made major strides physically — adding noticeable size, strength, and explosiveness to his game. A true stretch big, Wanrow thrives in pick-and-pop situations and can also initiate offensive sets from the perimeter. He’s a high-level shooter with deep range, and his shooting ability forces aggressive closeouts — especially from bigger defenders — creating driving lanes he takes full advantage of. Once he puts the ball on the floor, he attacks with power and purpose, finishing at the rim with authority. In transition, Aiden is a constant highlight threat — whether it’s soaring to the rim for a dunk or gliding past defenders with control and touch. His combination of size, skill, and mobility makes him one of the most intriguing frontcourt prospects in the country.

Wanrow displayed phenomenal passing vision, taking on constant strong side pressure from double teams and aggressive help side rotations. Countering those pressures with timely passes to baseline cutters and skip passes across the halfcourt, the forward will be instrumental in facilitating Brighton’s halfcourt offense all season. Defensively, he remains a strong and bouncy defender who matches up well with the state’s best frontcourt opponents.

Wanrow remains one of the highest upside names in his class, bringing smooth footwork and quick decision making to the table. As one of the better passers for his size within the state, Wanrow found repeated success out of the high post. When the lane opened up, Wanrow threw down multiple dunks, elevating with ease. Continuing to develop the perimeter creation and spacing, his upside is about as high as anyone in this class.

A refresher of Wanrow, the forward sought out deep position in the paint, a bit more selfless than many forwards in the state. Setting up cutters about as often as he created looks for himself, his passing vision alongside the defensive intangibles make him one of the most alluring prospects in the class.

Wanrow gave us the reminder of his above the rim finishing, a constant highlight reel in transition or off a slip screen. He was particularly impressive passing the ball from the key or elbows, hitting slashers in the pocket over and over. Particularly active as a screen setter and eventual roller, his ambidextrous finishing at the basket was a pain or opponents to defend once he got deep position. Defensively, he swatted away numerous attempts at the rim, either from weak side rotations or while switched onto a perimeter threat.
