He has really nice length and projects as a 3/4 & a quality wing player. Trueblood can score in bunches from the perimeter & mid-range. Oakley’s shooting range is extended and is also a productive shot blocker with a lot of room to improve his game. His defense and rebounding have improved this season. If his strength improves, Trueblood has a chance to be a special talent!
Highlights
He has a terrific offensive game, patience, and great footwork. Madden excels at keeping defenders off balance. Skunberg is known as a scoring guard who has had a large amount of success at the JV level this season. He can get hot from the perimeter and also make plays as a slasher. This Blue Jay has a bright future!
He starts for the 9-9 Bison and has had a standout year. Batke is averaging 12.2 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 2.2 apg, and 1.6 spg. Those are impressive numbers for a 9th grader in Class A! Keaton is a scoring guard who shoots the 3-ball with confidence. The best part of his game is getting to the rim and scoring with a diverse finishing package. Keaton is also and accomplished passer and rebounder for his young age. His ballhandling and defense have improved this season. Keaton lives in the gym and knows the game well. Batke always shows up in big when it really matters, he is a gamer!
Kyson is a long armed perimeter player who will get you buckets. He has refined his offensive games this year. Keller plays with a scorers mentality and he shoots it with a quick release. He is good athlete who can also make things happen in the paint. Expect him to keep improving as this kid is constantly working on his game.
Highlights
He is very long at 6’6″ or 6’7″ with a plus wingspan. Spears does a nice job of sealing off the paint and his offensive game is developing. Ahmi has some nice switchability to his game. Spears creates problems on defense, he boards up, and he has a high ceiling.
Highlights
He already has a reputation in Region 1, Kash is getting chased often this winter in JV games. He is also knocking down shots in varsity (2/2 from deep on Tuesday vs. Lisbon). Lorenz is shooting the ball at a high level, if he sets his feet, the D is in trouble. He has also shown the ability to play off the ball. He is a skilled player who never shies away from the big moment and is crafty at gaining/creating space. With some physical maturity, Kash can be a special talent for the Squirrels. Everyone has high hopes for Lorenz during his time at CHS!
Highlights
The Mavericks are 12-7 on the year, Grady is typically the 2nd player off the bench in varsity games. In JV, Nett has done very well. This young Mav is a versatile scorer who can put up points from multiple levels. Grady does well scoring in traffic for just a 9th grader. Nett certainly has the talent to become an exceptional player for the Mavs and MLS will be tough for many years to come!
Reis has improved his game in every aspect. He has become more aggressive on defense. Walters does good work by getting into passing lines and often times he starts the break going the other way. When attacking off the bounce, Reese can go left and/or right and he regularly gets to the rim. Walters is the most consistent shooter for the Red River C and JV squads. The exciting thing about Walters is, he grew 4 inches over the summer and could easily add a couple more inches. This young Roughrider is a player to watch!
Zabel starts at point guard for the Grovers. He plays aggressively and free. Kai is a special athlete as a 9th grader, he is super fast and ultra-strong. These attributes allow him to battle at the varsity level in Class A. Kai stands out with his pull-up jump shot and his on-ball defense. When I saw him earlier this season, I was impressed with how he attacked the basket and did not back down from bigger/older players.
He is a BIG, strong, and tough kid. Starcevic is physical athlete who will keep getting better, just take a look at his older brother Jake Starcevic Jake Starcevic 6’2″ | SF Kindred | 2025 State ND . This is Luke’s first year at Kindred and he fits in well. This winter, the young Starcevic has proven to be a paint bully who creates spaces and opponents have trouble moving him. Jake scores in the lane and his 15-foot jumper is accurate. His defensive awareness has improved and he sees the floor well for a BIG.
Ethan starts for the 12-6 Cardinals. He is an experienced varsity player as he got legit burn last year as an 8th grader. Ethan has grown immensely this season. Especially on the offensive side of the ball. Early on he struggled a little with his confidence but once he started believing he belonged on the court he has gotten better each game. Retterath is averaging 9.5 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 2.8 apg, 1.2 spg, and has hit 28 triples at a balmy 47 3FG%! He is tough to deal with when he attacks off the dribble. Retterath is putting up solid numbers but he really makes an impact on the defensive end. Ethan can guard any position on the floor, gives maximum effort, and he is a skilled baller for only being in 9th grade. Washburn is looking like they be a scary team come tournament time, if they make a run, Ethan will certainly play a key role in that.
