Schmidt continued to develop and advance his offensive game this summer. Nolan put in the time this summer to upgrade his outside shooting; he is now a serious threat from the 3-point arc. Do not forget he has an exceptional ability to get downhill and score in the paint. This kid is a tough matchup as he is versatile with the ability to play all 5 positions. An underrated aspect of Schmidt’s game is his passing, court vision, and setting up of teammates. Nolan is considered one of the top defenders in Class B, he will be lockdown all season for the Knights.
Nolan put in 28 points vs wilton and was super impressive driving to the basket and finishing string all game. Did it on the defensive end also as he grabbed several rebounds and started the teams fast break either scoring himself or kicking to open teammates. Was the go to guy in this game for his team and when they needed a basket they went to nolan either in a high isolation set or low post touch. Extremely difficult to matchup with defensively with his speed/strength/size and quickness, hes one of the elite players in the state.
Schmidt made this article because of his high-level effort, energy, and ubiquitous play. Nolan was strong and physical on defense and he got after the boards. What really impressed me this weekend was Nolan’s passing. He delivered many assists, showed amazing vision, and his selflessness was on full display. The ORCS Knight made the easy/extra pass but also dished some pretty assists, put touch on dimes when needed, and put the ball into tight windows. Schmidt is a an amazing teammate.
