First and foremost though we have to address a pet peeve. MaxPreps is not a complete list of statistics from throughout the state. There is nothing wrong with promoting your players, or yourself, but just know a list of leaders on MaxPreps is not representative of what the actual list may be. It is very frustrating that all schools don’t report statistics, but the truth is that many do not. Therefore, we are left with incomplete information. That’s my quick soapbox tangent. Now, back to the point. These five guys deserve more statewide attention for what they are doing so far this high school season.
We will get a chance to see Ball play on Friday when Maconaquah travels to take on undefeated Tipton. Not only is this versatile 6’6″ forward averaging 30.1 points per game, but the Braves also lead the state as a team scoring 76.1 points per game. Ball handles the ball very well for his size and is excellent at creating for himself from the perimeter. He has a polished mid-range and interior game where he uses his unique combination of size, strength, and mobility to create matchup problems for almost any defender. There is no denying 30+ points per game and Ball has done it while leading Maconaquah to a 7-2 record.

You don’t often see this level of a jump between someone’s junior and season season. Head, a 6’7″ senior forward at Henryville High School, had a strong junior season averaging 11.7 points and 9.2 rebounds per game for the Hornets. Now, those numbers have exploded to 24.4 points and 11.9 rebounds per game as a senior. Head is a crafty scorer inside using his size, length, and athleticism to elevate over the defense. He has also been efficient at the free throw line making over 76% of his 8+ attempts per game. Definitely a name that people aren’t familiar with statewide, but Head deserves a lot of credit for the year he is having down in southern Indiana.
King started the season hot earning MVP honors of the IU Health Hoops Classic leading Harrison (West Lafayette) to three wins. He backed it up with a 30-point, 10-rebound performance in a 62-61 win over rival Lafayette Jefferson. The 6’4″ junior forward is averaging over 20 points per game while showcasing a versatile offensive game. On Saturday the Raiders will travel north to take on undefeated Lake Central followed by a matchup with North Central Conference rival Kokomo in a couple of games that could gain King some recognition.
One of the breakout performers of this season has been Caleb Parks Caleb Parks 6’2″ | SG Bishop Noll | 2024 State IN up at Bishop Noll Institute. The 6’2″ senior guard is one of the more dynamic, explosive athletes in the state that should be playing his way onto the radar of college programs this winter. He is averaging over 20 points per game while playing against a tough schedule which has included several very good teams out of Illinois. On Wednesday night he will get a chance to go against undefeated Cathedral in a matchup that could help draw some statewide attention. Parks is absolutely one of the more talented pure scorers in the senior class.
