The event featured a slate of four boys games with some of the top talent from the Southern California area. I was able to attend the event and here’s a look at some of the top standouts I saw.
1. Mark Jones – Hesperia 2025
Jones a big point guard. He has the size of a two-guard but he’s an efficient playmaker and elite floor leader. Very unselfish, pass-first player. He rarely looks for his own shot and is constantly keeping the ball moving. Good vision and able to consistently find the open teammate or make the right pass. He can score though. He’s able to attack off the dribble and he has range out to the three-point line.
2. Michael Lindsay – Alemany 2024
Lindsay was the primary ball-handler for Alemany. Good handles and able to dribble against defensive pressure. A lefty scorer, his offensive strength was his slashing ability. He consistently got to the basket and put pressure on the defense. Did a good job protecting the ball and using his body to shield himself when going up for a layup. Pushes ball on the break.
3. Daveyon Chisom – Long Beach Jordan 2025
Chisom is a wing with good size and good playmaking. He can handle the ball as a forward and consistently made good passes. On the offensive end, his main weapon was his ability to attack off the dribble. Was able to draw contact and get himself to the free throw line. Defensively, he acted as a shot blocker contesting shots at the basket.
4. Michael Aikhionbare – Washington Prep 2024
Aikhionbare has talent, he just has to put it together consistently. Few players can match him in terms of size. He’s a tall and long forward who can elevate and shoot over the defense in the halfcourt. He likes to play in the mid post and has a consistent jumper from there. Can also dribble drive into a sweeping hook shot. Able to shoot from three-point range off the catch.
