Ward stood out this week after collecting 16 point, 7 steals, and 5 assists in a blowout win over Apex last Friday. He’s a dynamic little point guard who really knows how to manuever within the defense, as well as make plays on his own when he’s on the defensive end of the ball. He’s one of the scrappiest guys in the area at getting on the floor and trying to make plays on 50/50 balls to help fire up his team. Also great body control and finishing around the rim over bigger defenders.
Highlights
Simpson had 34 points and 11 rebounds in a big win over Polk County, including 3 triples on the offensive end. He’s got great college level size to play on the wing, and knows how to attack the basket as a slasher. He’s good in transition, plays above the rim, and can cut off the ball in order to get an easy layup or dunk as well. Shown he can be an impact defender with his length and effort he shows on that side of the ball too.
Highlights
Tillman stepped up and delivered for his Statesville group, dropping 27 PTS and 5 threes against East Lincoln to help pull off a huge upset. He also averaged 9.5 RPG, and his team ended up going 2-0 on the week. He’s got good length for his frame, and an ability to score it at multiple levels of the floor. He’ll primarily play on the interior but as evidenced from last weeks win, he can get beyond the arc and rain threes down when he’s left open and gets hot.
Bouie came up big countless times for Chambers with 24 PTS, 3 threes, and 4 steals in their buzzer-beating win over Hopewell. He also provided the assist on a missed bucket to Jordan Patton Jordan Patton 6’5″ | SF JL Chambers | 2024 State NC for the game-winning tip-in. He’s a big-time athlete with a long, thin frame but around 6’5 or 6’6, making him a prime candidate to play on the wing in college. He’s got explosive power that lets him dunk on guys or absorb contact and finish around the rim. Can be an impact defender too.
Highlights
Smith just continues to torch the nets this year, as he had 34 and 25 in two wins over good teams this week. He made 10 total threes and 19 total free throws, showing how his game is predicated on taking and making shots all over the court. He has a particularly impressive talent of drawing fouls and making teams pay as he takes and makes a lot of free throws on the entire year, which showcases a game mature for the college level. A capable scorer who fills it up and should be making a college commitment soon.
