They knocked down their first two 3-point attempts, set up by [player_tooltip player_id='1076350' first='Bishop' last='Boswell'] then proceeded to feed [player_tooltip player_id='1225669' first='Sadiq' last='White Jr'] in the post. White finished with eight points in the opening quarter along with a block and two rebounds.

[player_tooltip player_id='1115509' first='Drake' last='Powell'] scored five early points for the Chargers in the first quarter.

Northwood would wake up and get the crowd going in the second quarter in sparking a run and taking their first lead of the game. They trailed 16-8 before going on an 11-0 run to take a 19-16 lead late in the quarter. 3-pointers from [player_tooltip player_id='1411220' first='Cameron' last='Fowler'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1225618' first='Beau' last='Harvey'] would tie things up at 16-16 and another 3-pointer from [player_tooltip player_id='1698850' first='Jake' last='Leighton'] would give Northwood the lead.

Myers Park would come storming right back though, with [player_tooltip player_id='1031081' first='Ashton' last='King'] knocking down back-to-back 3-pointers to give them a 22-19 lead. After that, Myers Park would close the half on an 8-2 run and extend their lead to 30-21 with Boswell dishing out eight assists by the midway point. King finished the half with four made 3-pointers and 12 points and two assists. They held [player_tooltip player_id='1115509' first='Drake' last='Powell'] to just nine points in the first half.

Early in the third, [player_tooltip player_id='1180892' first='Sir' last='Mohammed'] picked up his third foul and Myers Park found themselves sputtering on offense while Northwood chipped away at the lead. The Mustangs scored one of two free throws to make things 31-25 as the third quarter rolled along. Two free throws from Boswell would make it 33-25 before Myers Park would wake up on offense.

King forced a steal and scored on a fastbreak the other direction then he triggered another fastbreak where he found Mohammed in the corner for 3 and it was 38-25 just like that in favor of the Mustangs, triggering a Northwood timeout. Two more 3-pointers from Mohammed would trigger another Northwood timeout as his points total went up to 13 points and their lead grew to 44-25 on a 13-0 run.

A dunk from [player_tooltip player_id='1411220' first='Cameron' last='Fowler'] would end the Mustangs' run and make things 44-27 but also trigger a technical foul to the chagrin of the home fans. King would make both free throws to make it 46-27. Both teams would pick up the pace after that as young big [player_tooltip player_id='1411210' first='Chad' last='Graves'] knocked down a few buckets to get the offense going for Northwood. Mohammed would stay hot though and knock down another 3-pointer before White would put back an offensive rebound at the buzzer to make it 55-34 to end the third quarter. The Mustangs outscored the Chargers 25-13 in the frame.

Things seemingly sputtered for both ends as Myers Park called a timeout with 5 minutes left in the game with a 57-38 lead. An And-1 opportunity from Boswell seemingly sealed things at 61-38. A personal 7-0 run from Powell would keep things close, making it 61-45 with less than two minutes remaining.

Myers Park would go on to secure a tough victory on the road, 63-47. It's their 13th win of the year and ninth in a row heading into South Meck Conference play with a 2-0 record already. They'll host Olympic High on Tuesday and travel to South Mecklenburg on Friday. Northwood is still 12-3 on the year and 7-0 in Mid-Carolina Conference action and will shift their focus to North Moore on Friday.
<!-- wp:acf/evaluation-block {"name":"acf/evaluation-block","data":{"player_evaluations_0_player":["1076350"],"_player_evaluations_0_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_0_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_0_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_0_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_0_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_0_evaluation":"Boswell didn't have his greatest night shooting the basketball but he finished with 11 assists and kept his guys going, especially [player_tooltip player_id='1031081' first='Ashton' last='King'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1180892' first='Sir' last='Mohammed'] when needed. He does a masterful of job of getting into the teeth of the defense before finding his outlets on the perimeter for scores. He's an impressive floor general in the 2024 class headed to Tennessee for a reason next fall.","_player_evaluations_0_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_1_player":["1031081"],"_player_evaluations_1_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_1_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_1_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_1_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_1_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_1_evaluation":"King was the unsung hero in the first half with 12 points on four made 3-pointers and did well to find his shooters in the second half during their 25-13 run in the third quarter. He's slowly climbing up the radar in the NC's 2025 class.","_player_evaluations_1_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_2_player":["1225669"],"_player_evaluations_2_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_2_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_2_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_2_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_2_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_2_evaluation":"White was another one who didn't have the strongest outing offensively but he showed he could be a presence defensively and did well to rebound the ball and crash the glass when the ball didn't come his way offensively. He continues to be an underrated shot blocker as well. He had three blocks in the victory. As he figures out ways to create offense with his defense, he's a dangerous prospect in NC's 2025 class.","_player_evaluations_2_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_3_player":["1180892"],"_player_evaluations_3_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_3_override_profile_image":["override_image"],"_player_evaluations_3_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_3_player_featured_image":2320921,"_player_evaluations_3_player_featured_image":"field_62f141137ead9","player_evaluations_3_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_3_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_3_evaluation":"Mohammed stepped up in a big way, especially in the second half with a barrage of 3-pointers to boost the offense.
