Continue ReadingShabazz’s return to the Quad Cities has come with a lot of fanfare, and the talent is evident just watching him go through warmups. He’s a special, explosive athlete who can elevate in traffic and throw down dunks, something that is a pretty rare sight in Iowa. He’s a talented ball-handler and shot creator who can get to the rim for finishes seemingly whenever he wants, and he’s also a good mid-range shooter. The range on his jumper needs to become more consistent, but the form on his shot looks good and that should come with more repetition. He’s a good passer who sees the floor well and has the ability to be a really good defender with his combination of size, length, and quickness. He had 15 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists in Assumption’s loss to North Scott.
Josiah Harrington
Josiah Harrington
Simply put, Harrington is going to be a problem for MAC teams and the state in general for the next four years. A silky smooth 6-5 wing with a pure stroke, Harrington makes the game look effortless. He shoots it extremely well off the catch, moves well without the ball in his hands, and is a solid ball-handler and shooter off the dribble as well. Despite being just one of two freshmen who saw time in the North Scott/Assumption game, Harrington was the most poised player on the floor. With his frame, skill set, movement, and demeanor, Harrington reminds me a lot of Keegan Murray at this stage. High praise, I know, but this kid is going to be special. The sky is the limit. He had 18 points on 5-11 shooting (4-5 3P, 4-5 FT) in the Lancers win over Assumption.

A quick 6-0 guard who makes a major impact on the game on both ends of the floor, Theobald gave Clear Lake some great minutes off the bench in their win over Waverly-Shell Rock, finishing with 8 points on 3-6 shooting (2-2 FT), 2 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals. He sees the floor really well and is able to blow by his defender with his quick first step and ball handling. He’s a high IQ guard with a great feel for the game.
An athletic, mobile 6-6 forward who runs the floor hard and can provide some versatility on the defensive end with his combination of size, length, and athleticism. He finishes well around the rim, establishes good post position, and is a willing passer out of the post. He finished with 13 points on 5-8 shooting (3-3 FT), 4 rebounds, an assist, and a steal for the Dutchmen in their loss to West Lyon.
