There’s always prospects who come to our attention later and we added over a dozen new names in this winter update. In this article we’ll take a look at the top five new names.
A new name moving from Florida to Ohio, Buchanan has hit the ground running in Cincinnati for Taft. With some big scoring games in showcase events and conference games, Buchanan is showing why he had lots of scholarship interest down south. A name for scholarship programs around Florida and Ohio to know about, we’ve written about his game a couple times already this season.

A prospect we caught around later than we should’ve, Barnett is already committed to top 25 ranked Gannon. After an impressive summer, we saw him during his senior debut and impressed us with a Brunswick squad that will compete for conference and district titles this season. Athletic and able to play on or off the ball, when you combine Barnett’s passing, shooting and athleticism, it becomes obvious why scholarship programs became interested in him. A name to know in northeast Ohio this winter.

My favorite part of the Top 250 Expo is finding new names and Shilling was a prospect who made some noise as a Junior and got the opportunity to shine in front of our scouts this fall. He made the most with this opportunity showing his upside with his size, length and interior abilities to score and rebound. With 27 points and 11 rebounds in their last game against Buckeye Trail yesterday, Shilling is turning his talent into production and should be on recruiting radars at a variety of levels.

Bowman was a prospect I had heard good things about after his Junior season but finally got the chance to focus on him at the Midwest Basketball Club Fall League. There I was able to see his unique ability to handle and run the offense for his size, making plays off the bounce for himself and others. I thought Bowman looked the part of a priority small college recruit and already this season Bowman has a game winning shot against Buckeye Valley.
The Fairland basketball program has been a dominant force around southeast Ohio for the past decade and Allen is the latest talented Dragon guard. I was impressed with his ability to make plays off the bounce and creativity on the ball. Leading his team to wins while putting up efficient scoring numbers tells me that regional small college programs should be taking a look at Allen as a combo guard to bring in for their program
