A new name moving from Florida to Ohio, Buchanan has hit the ground running in Cincinnati for Taft. With some big scoring games in showcase events and conference games, Buchanan is showing why he had lots of scholarship interest down south. The third time watching Buchanan this season and this was by far his best performance. I thought he was engaged early with a couple strong takes to the basket and made some tough plays getting after rebounds and loose balls. Buchanan was rewarded for this effort by getting a friendly roll on a pair of 3-pointers while also swishing one as well. When Taft is able to turn over their opponent like they did against Northland, they have the ability to give teams a lot of trouble in transition.

I like Buchanan’s game. He is a player you want on your team. He is the ultimate role guy. He is ultra long and athletic and he knows how to use it extremely well. He can guard all five positions on the court at an elite level. He has next-level bounce as well. He had a two-handed fast-break dunk that his head was at the rim and it looked effortless. He is smooth and someone I would want on my team any day.

A move in transfer to Taft from Florida, Buchanan showed some intriguing abilities in his Ohio debut. A smooth athlete on the wing, Buchanan covers a lot of ground on the court and can turn on the jets when he needs to. A smooth shot coming out of his hand, Buchanan made a couple jumpers on Friday night. Developing chemistry with his new teammates and feel for the game will be key this season as his athleticism and shot making will have college programs interested.
