From all positions on the court, rebounding ability is essential in order to either limit possessions on defense or help your group get an extra possession on offense. Read below for a half dozen guys that have caught my eye as some top rebounders around the state.

Wisniewski is a new name we’re getting eyes on as a strong, physical 2024 that is just outworking guys on the glass every night. He’s averaging 12.8 rebounds per game with his group off to a 5-0 start. With his size and motor, he deserves more recognition amongst the private school ranks in the Wake County area, and potential college interest if he is interested at continuing at the next level.
Steinback is fresh off his first Division 1 offer from App State, and his rebounding numbers are part of the story. He’s pulled down 61 rebounds through 5 games, including 26 of them coming on the offensive glass. He’s a hybrid wing/forward prospect that is incredibly physical and has a nose for sinking his body into the muck in order to grab those boards. He’s a key piece for an Asheboro team off to a hot start.
Powers is continuing his impressive performances from the summer/fall, as he is averaging 13.2 RPG through 5 contests for Davie County HS so far. He’s very versatile and skilled, but what’s remained consistent in his game is willingness to get dirty and fight for loose balls on the rebounding front. He should start to pick up interest from D3 and other regional schools this year.
Highlights
Copeland has backed up the recruiting hype he’s gotten on the travel ball scene so far in HS, as he’s been a key piece to St. David’s resurging a bit this year. He’s pulled down 71 total rebounds in 7 contests, and averaging a double-double on the young season. He’s the engine to what makes the Warriors run, and he’ll need to keep having monster performances if they want to contend in the private school ranks.
Page is only a freshman, but is catching the eyes of many already at Broughton. He’s grabbed 51 rebounds in 5 games, and has been a weapon on both sides of the ball for the rebuilding group. He’s impressed with his slashing and on ball defense, but rebounding is something else to add to the list. He could be an impressive player out of the Triangle area when all is said and done.
Vaughan is a big man who deserves more attention on the NC scene right now, as he’s gone for 63 rebounds in 6 games on the year. He’s a big part of the 6-0 start they’re on currently, as he’s also averaging 22.5 PPG. His size and willingness to work, especially on the offensive glass, has made him a name to get to know. College coaches should be circling sooner than later.
