Jay Anderson | Prep Hoops Scout
One of the more underrecruited bigs in the state, Vaughan was responsible for leading 15-seed Bandys on a deep run in the NCHSAA State Playoffs. He finished with 19 points, five rebounds and a block in their West Region Finals loss to Reidsville. On the season, he was a burden to bear in the painted area with 22.3 points, 8.4 rebounds and 2.6 blocks per game on 52 percent shooting from the floor and 36 percent shooting from deep. He’s shown he can operate inside and out with his size at 6-foot-9 and remains a top target in the 828 area for DI/DII/DIII programs.

Vaughan continues to put together productive displays as a legitimate forward/center prospect, establishing himself as a paint presence to know in the region. Picking up his touch and finishing ability is helping a lot, as he is beginning to finish around the rim and on the low block with more consistency and a little more creativity as well. His fluidity is still a work in progress, but as he begins to understand his body it just improves day by day. The common saying is that bigs develop much later, and Vaughan is a prime example of that.

At 6-foot-9, Vaughan has shown he can be an indispensable force in the painted area for Bandys High. He ranks fourth among juniors in the NCHSAA in blocks per game (3.4) while also producing 18.8 PPG and 8.8 RPG on 54 percent shooting from the field. As he continues to expand and grow his game on the perimeter, look for his name to grow in the state of North Carolina’s 2025 class very soon.
