Stanback is an emerging forward name to get to know as he heads to Appalachian State in the Sun Belt Conference. He moves from No. 191 to No. 53 in the final rankings update in the state. He’s a 6-foot-6 forward with a ton of athleticism in his wheelhouse that he utilized to lift Asheboro High deep into this year’s NCHSAA State Playoffs. Despite suffering an injury in the postseason, he’ll be a worthy name to know once he’s healthy as a pipeline prospect into Mountaineers’ rotation.

Steinback is fresh off his first Division 1 offer from App State, and his rebounding numbers are part of the story. He’s pulled down 61 rebounds through 5 games, including 26 of them coming on the offensive glass. He’s a hybrid wing/forward prospect that is incredibly physical and has a nose for sinking his body into the muck in order to grab those boards. He’s a key piece for an Asheboro team off to a hot start.

Steinback is an impressive bouncy forward that should be a great local pickup for D3/JuCo programs that see him play. He’s a forward that brings intensity and skill to the defensive end, showcasing an interesting blend of athleticism and instincts to play as a great rim protector and on ball defender. Offensively he’s getting better, starting to get more feel with the ball in his hands and making all the simple plays around the rim. Excited for him to dominate this conference this year.

Steinback is emerging out of the 336 area as someone for coaches to consider as a springy forward who has dominated the grassroots circuit for his Mid State Magic team. He’s super explosive around the rim and has been effective all summer whenever I’ve watched him in action. Catching lobs, running the floor, and slashing off his own dribble are all methods for him to get to the hoop. On defense he is super solid at the rim and cleaning up opponents misses. He will have a big year at Asheboro and should become a local target for coaches to focus on.

Steinback continued to impress for his MidState Magic group as a tweener forward with a ton of athleticism and rim protection potential, but also expanding his offensive game since I’ve seen him last. Defensively he’s all the things you ask for; a great rim protector, rebounder, and paint defender. It comes from his lateral athleticism, 6’7 frame, and defensive IQ. On offense he makes things happen both as an off ball cutter and rim runner, but also with the ball in his hands. He showed off some extended range around the arc and ability to make plays off the bounce. He’s going to be an intriguing prospect for JuCos and NAIAs to get eyes on because he’s improving rapidly.
