This issue of our series covers the Mid-Piedmont conference in the 3A class, with schools like Ledford and Asheboro being represented. Check out our picks for their all conference team below.
Shoaf is an intriguing guard prospect that should be able to take over primary ball handling duties for Oak Grove this upcoming season. He’s able to facilitate well despite his smaller stature, able to weave in and out of traffic and find teammates. He’s a good shooter too, knocking down 3s from the perimeter all summer and generally able to be a perimeter threat every time he steps on the court. Also a crafty finisher around the rim to compensate for his size. Not a plus defender but still lots of time to improve that for him. Should be in line for a big season this winter.
Highlights
Scottie Yaudes
Scottie Yaudes
Yaudes has picked up the keys to the car for Ledford this year, and he’s just an all-around guy who excels as a scorer. A great spot up shooter, he’s patient and always ready to shoot the ball when spotted up or moving on the perimeter. He has good instincts to not just only look to score, he’s calm and looks for his teammates with the ball in his hands as well. High IQ guy that will continue to make the right plays all year for Ledford.

Allred is one of those guys who just plays super hard, a necessity to have on a winning team. He may not be the quickest or most skilled, but his high motor, physical style of play, and ability to do the dirty work makes him and his group better. He’s a great rebounder on both ends, hard to stop with his thick frame. Offensively is a capable finisher that makes the simple read and doesn’t try to do anything crazy, just finishing simply. He should step into a much larger role with many of his teammates graduating.
Steinback is an impressive bouncy forward that should be a great local pickup for D3/JuCo programs that see him play. He’s a forward that brings intensity and skill to the defensive end, showcasing an interesting blend of athleticism and instincts to play as a great rim protector and on ball defender. Offensively he’s getting better, starting to get more feel with the ball in his hands and making all the simple plays around the rim. Excited for him to dominate this conference this year.
