Crumble is in a new home this year but still as impressive and dominant. His size and strength are next level for his age and was a problem all night for Reynoldsburg. Crumble moves very well as well and is a force in the paint. He plays the game with a chip on his shoulder too. He has that dog mentality and the sky is the limit for him.
Bowens is coming off a great freshman year and AAU season and looking to take his game to the next level. He seems to have stretched out a little bit as he seems to be taller, longer, and leaner. This leads him to be more conditioned and athletic. He has a great first and second jump along with relentless effort. He still plays very strong for his size in the paint and is getting better. Bowens was not the most impactful player on Saturday but he is ready to go and have a great sophomore season.
Johnson is special. He shows flashes of being a special player. He has some great athleticism with twitch-like quickness. He is long and uses it well with his dribbling moves. He can do and get wherever he wants on the offensive end. He is an elite playmaker, who makes some highlight-level passes. He did not have much of a scoring impact on the game but Johnson is a high-level kid with truly special potential.
Bates is poised and ready to go to be an impact player for the Panthers this year. He has gotten better in so many ways. Last year he came off the bench as the energizer bunny and could hit a couple of threes. This year he is letting the game come to him and has great confidence. He is calm and controlled this year. He has a high IQ and a good feel for the game. He is very fundamentally sound. He can also do a little of it all. He is a good playmaker and can make you pay if you leave him open with his jump shot. He is a sneaky good rebounder as well, and this comes from his high motor and the energy he plays the game with.
Highlights
Diondre Reed
Diondre Reed
Reed had one of the most impressive performances of the day in my opinion. His heart and motor were extremely impressive and impactful. He went toe to toe with McCulloch and stood on his own. He’s only listed at 6’5 but plays much bigger and stronger. He wasn’t getting pushed around and was bringing it every possession on both ends. His toughness stood out. He is very long and strong with a good build. Reed was one of my favorite players from Saturday.
