In its 28th year, the Motor City Roundball Classic continues to be one of the premier holiday showcases in the Midwest. This years lineup lives up to that billing. Barring something unforeseen. I should be on hand for days 2-4. Following are some standouts performances from the final two games in Thursday action.

[player_tooltip player_id='1588198' first='Drew' last='Wilson'] 6-1 2026 West Bloomfield (pictured) I pegged Wilson as one the top performers at last years Prep Hoops Freshman showcase. After spending his first year at Bloomfield Hills. He is really breaking out after a transfer to West Bloomfield. Wilson excelled on both ends of the court against one of the best backcourts in the entire state. Showed the athletic upside and lateral quickness by pestering Grand Valley football commit [player_tooltip player_id='1223499' first='Jake' last='Vermaas'] into an off night. I haven't seen that often. Offensively filled it up all night. Scoring at all three levels. He also displayed versatility in toggling between both backcourt spots. Stepped up in the clutch of the nip and tuck victory. Finished with 30 points and made a case for more recognition at the top of Michigan's still developing 2026 class.

[player_tooltip player_id='1300920' first='Carson' last='Vis'] 6-4 2025 Grand Rapids South Christian No nice way to say it. Be it football or injury rust. Vis just did not look right the first two times I saw him this year. That changed in a big way on Thursday night. Showed the versatile scoring skill set that has made him such intriguing prospect. With an assortment step backs and unique finishing angles at the rim. The outside shot was falling. Opening the driving lane even further. Came alive late when it appeared West Bloomfield was pulling away. Finished with 25 points and further cemented his place near the top of Michigan's 2025 class.

[player_tooltip player_id='1825126' first='Christian' last='Humphrey-Rembert'] 6-9 2024 East Kentwood Like a lot of young bigs. Humphrey-Rembert has been guilty at times of playing passive and letting the game come to him. That was not the case in the main event Thursday night. The recent Howard commitment seemed to be playing with purpose against former travel ball teammate [player_tooltip player_id='1112302' first='Xander' last='Wedlow']. Scored the Falcons first nine points of the game. Hitting two threes in the process. Didn't shy away from the block though. Asserted himself down low when needed. Passed the ball and showed good court awareness for a big. With his commitment behind him. Looks primed for a big senior campaign.

[player_tooltip player_id='1438849' first='Jah' last='Hatchett'] 5-11 2025 East Kentwood Like Humphrey-Rembert, did not waste any time putting his stamp on the game. Took a steal coast-to-coast for an emphatic dunk. Didn't let up from there. Emptied out the bag in the first half. Hit threes, penetrated with purpose. Passed with precision. There really wasn't much he didn't do offensively. Was active defensively as well. Crashing down hard on doubles to bother and help slow down [player_tooltip player_id='1112302' first='Xander' last='Wedlow']. Finished with 25 points. With a litany college coaches on hand watching. I would imagine his offer list might expand soon after Thursday's performance.

[player_tooltip player_id='1616011' first='Dimaunye' last='Smith-Powe'] 6-0 2025 Detroit University Prep UPrep's floor general did his best to try and keep it from getting away against a East Kentwood team that came to play. The passing is what stood out to me. Delivered a pin point half court lob to [player_tooltip player_id='1112302' first='Xander' last='Wedlow'] that had the gym buzzing. To be honest probably could have been more selfish offensively. As he shoots we'll go go along with the passing. Has a tight handle and pounds the ball into the court. Built like a fullback and doesn't mind contact. The juxtaposition of his lead guard skills combined with the strength of a post makes a him unique and intriguing prospect. Like his opponent on the other side [player_tooltip player_id='1438849' first='Jah' last='Hatchett']. I would expect him to earn some offers with a strong grassroots campaign. The talent is definitely there.
