While at the Pro16League Session 4 in Detroit, I had the opportunity to evaluate [program_tooltip program_id='2539820' first='The' last='Academy']'s 2032 group which is a well-constructed, high-upside unit that quietly put together a strong weekend. What stands out most about this team is their balance: they don't rely on just one or two pieces, but instead deploy multiple contributors who can impact the game in different ways. That versatility makes them a tough cover over the course of a full game. Here is a deeper dive into a few standouts…

Aydin is an off-guard who brings another source of scoring production on this team outside of Kam (below) and Maurice (below). Despite not being one of the primary scoring options, his ability to go and get a bucket is what makes this team so dangerous because while opponents focuses on the two players I mentioned above, they still have to deal with Aydin, who can score it well from multiple levels. He is a swingman who can attack inside and out, and is another way that [program_tooltip program_id='2539820' first='The' last='Academy'] can hurt opponents.

Luca is a small guard who made his impact with his ability to shoot the three-ball and help space the floor. He has a budding understanding of the game, and as he continues to develop his overall game and spend more time working on his handles and ability to play on and off the ball, he will be a talented player to watch. On [program_tooltip program_id='2539820' first='The' last='Academy'] team, he tends to spend most of his time around the arc, waiting for his shot opportunities. Defenders have to be aware of him at all times.

While Maurice (below) brings a more score-first mentality to the lead guard position when he is playing it, Derek is a true to heart, pass-first PG. Kam has a natural feel for the position, strong PG instincts, and improves the team's offensive flow. His presence at the PG spot elevates this team's floor and ceiling.

Kam is the man in the middle for this squad, and right now, his size is just too much for his peers. He plays more physically than many, and he makes an impact on both ends of the floor, including being dominant on the glass. A lot of his success comes from his size, but make no mistake: he has a foundational inside-and-out skill set that he can build upon. I always encourage players who are bigger than their peers early to make sure they are working on their overall game, meaning developing a skill set to play inside and out. Kam is in that grouping that many kids find themselves in when they hit growth spurts sooner than others. The key is not to get stuck playing under the basket.

Maurice is one of the most aggressive guards I have seen in his age group. He is a downhill attacking lead guard who puts constant pressure on the rim and forces defense to collapse. He showed his ability to create off the bounce and distribute on-time, on-target passes, but the strength of his game is putting the ball in the hoop, which he does very well from all levels. There is a lot to like about his game, and the future is bright if he keeps working in the lab. Remember this name because it will be one to remember as he has the pedigree and the skill-set.
