Pleasant had a great run at Federal Way and now joins the 2024 class as a member of Elite Prep. He’s an explosive scorer with size and strength to pair with his plus shooting. One of the top players for Elite Prep this year, he can create off the bounce, is strong getting downhill, and has the size to rebound at a high rate while providing some defensive versatility.
Randhawa was over in Ontario last season as a member of J. Addison and played in the highly talented OSBA. He was used primarily as a floor-spacer and secondary playmaker due to his quick trigger from outside and shiftiness with the ball. He’s still proving to be a highly effective shooter for Great Futures Prep but also has had the opportunity to do more playmaking and showcase more of what he can do creating off the dribble. He brings the ball down with eyes up and can hit those long touch passes over the top of defenses that are slow to get back. He also plays effectively at different speeds with the ball to create space and get to the rack. Randhawa averaged 19 points 8 assists and 5 rebounds in GFP’s last tournament in Arizona.
Hobson has been a great early season find. He’s a big wing with size, strength, and athleticism who can score in a lot of different ways. He’s got an excellent shot pulling up in the mid-range, can hit it leaning either way, fading back, or going straight over defenders. I also got to see some of his power finishing at the rim with big follows for tip-slams, accelerated drives to shoot gaps, and the ability to take weaker defenders with backdowns.
Dubreuil has looked really sharp with the jumper this far into the season and boasts some uncommon strength for a guard. That combo of strength and shooting touch open up a lot of avenues for him to attack. He stays on balance while driving to the rim, can pivot back and forth and keep that solid base to rise up and hit the short to intermediate shots, and always has the option of taking smaller guards to the post. He’s been a really pleasant surprise this season and continues to light it up from 3-point as well.
The 6-foot-6 forward is a strong and smart player. He’s not overly tall for a player that stays mostly around the paint, but he knows how to use his strength combined with good footwork to mix up his attacks and score with a variety of moves. Good touch at the line, stays in control while going downhill, and can operate in tight spaces. He’s a player to watch going forward.
The Issaquah point guard is a shifty 6-foot-2 and does a great job penetrating gaps, especially using that off-hand to attack the left side. He has some strength to finish inside and shows good speed and acceleration. He’s also capable of hitting some tough mid-range shots and shows good recovery ability defensively with that size and speed.
Lopez is a kid that stays low, can challenge ballhandlers on defense, and shows some power in the lower body to burst to the rim. He’s a player that will prod the defense, can keep the dribble alive, and spaces the floor pretty well. His change of direction, stop and go style of play really keeps defenders at bay and gives him space to create.
Highlights
McFerrin plays above his height inside using strength and timing to make plays. He’s a strong rebounder, knows how to throw his weight around, and has an eye for hitting cutters inside even through a lot of traffic. He’s already had some big games on the glass and scoring the rock, pouring in 28 points against a tough Mount Vernon squad. He’s one of the leaders on Lake Stevens and sets the tone with his hustle and physical play.
