Calvert was smooth and dominant this week for the Cougars, as he posted 29 and 27 in their two blowout victories. While the competition level wasn’t great, Calvert showed an ability to step up and take over a game, finding ways to put the ball in the basket all night long. He’s been stepping up his game in recent weeks and the reclass for CDS will be a key piece for them for years to come. College coaches should begin to put him down as a name to monitor.
Highlights
Gladieux had a nice performance in Crossroad Christian’s win over Lawrence Academy, scoring 20 points and adding 17 rebounds, 7 of those offensive. He dominated around the interior, out-muscling and just being a more physical and taller presence down low against the smaller Lawrence frontcourt. Solid finisher and will score buckets at will with his height and length. He’s been a key piece to their 10-1 start as an interior forward that should be getting some more college looks.
Brown was quiet in the blowout win over Harrells Christian, but he led his group in the semifinal and 3rd place contests against strong squads. He had 25 in the semis and 21 in the 3rd place game, continuing to affirm the idea that he is a great scorer at the point guard spot. He’s comfortable pushing the pace and attacking downhill, but has shown the ability to shoot it with a smooth jump shot as well. Also a pest who can guard the ball with quick feet and hands.
Highlights
Considering Westminster Catawba competes in the NCISAA, we felt it was necessary to include Quinn considering the two games he dominated in this week. In the blowout over North Hills Christian, he posted 35 points, 11 rebounds, and 6 steals, and then had 21 points and 11 rebounds in a tight win over Mt. Zion. He’s a premier sharpshooter and has shown an ability to be tough, fight on the glass, and sit down and play more defense. He’s a 3 and D threat for schools to take notice of.
Levy has been a big part of Charlotte Latin being above .500 in what was supposed to be a rebuilding year, as the Hawks came 3rd in the Chic Fil A Winter Classic. He had 24 points and 8 boards in that game, and had a solid 16 points in the first round. He’s a big wing that plays well on the interior on both ends, and can step out and shoot the 3. With an offer from Johnson and Wales already, his recruitment should heat up deeper into the season.
