Elder is a high quality guard that has started the season in prime form. He dropped 31 points in a 56-51 win against Arbor Prep. Elder’s jumper looked so pure and he showed some very deep range, especially off the bounce. He showed that he could advance the ball and step right into a triple and bury it. Elder did a great job swinging the ball on the perimeter and moving the defense, creating openings for his jumper when the ball came back. He also did some nice work with the dribble drive going left to right.

Dillard is coming off a terrific summer and an electric fall. He’ll be a player to watch this high school season and has already shown that. Dillard lit up the scoreboard in his team’s first game, scoring 30 points in a victory against Bedford. We pretty much all know already that he’s an elite shooter, and he did show that aspect of his game. But in this win, it was his ability to create looks and score at multiple levels that stood out. Dillard isn’t just a shooter. Against Bedford he was an athletic playmaker and scorer that utilized dribble combos and the shot fake.

Schimpa was tremendous in Edwardsburg’s win against Plainwell. He scored 31 of his team’s 62 points in the contest. Schimpa was only 1 rebound short of a double-double in the game as well. He showed off a quick, consistent and controlled release on his jumper. Schimpa looked very comfortable shooting over the top of defenders and really utilized any height mismatch. I was very impressed with his ability to finish at the rim in this game. Schimpa drove to the rim with authority, used cuts and angles well and finished through contact.

Kardasis is turning some heads as the season opened for Rochester Adams. He was tremendous in their 74-59 win against L’anse Creuse North. Kardasis showed off an electric scoring punch and proved that he could control a game on the offensive end of the floor. His jumper looked tremendous, and while I don’t have an exact number, I know that he hit a handful of threes. Kardasis flaunted some underrated athleticism and the ability to score from multiple levels.

I decided to include another Rochester Adams star, simply because he deserved it. Dee looked like a really steady guard that played the game with a high basketball IQ. He was smart with the ball and made good decisions with it as well. I was very impressed with Dee as an effective and efficient passer. He was willing and able to get the ball to the hot hand.
