Friday night featured four boys basketball matchups – three consisting of CIF Southern Section programs and one prep school game to close the first day. We take a look at some prospects who jumped onto our radar after Friday’s action.
Eneasi Piuleini | 2025 | Mira Costa
Piuleini is an intriguing prospect for multiple reasons but we can start with his wiry 6-foot-6 frame with smooth and effortless athleticism. He used those attributes well Friday night with his defensive versatility to go along with his inside-out scoring touch. Piuleini scored 19 points, including three 3-pointers and a number of transition and downhill finishes at the rim.
Kam Dubois | 2024 | Francis Parker
When teammate Tavid Johnson wasn’t handling offensive duties it was Dubois who stepped in and carried the load. The 6-foot-5 forward is a glue-type player who is willing to do the dirty work inside for an otherwise undersized Parker team. Dubois had a couple of impressive drives and finishes in half-court offense, which led to his 15 points, and attacked the offensive boards with purpose.
Kian Hendricks | 2027 | Cantwell-Sacred Heart
Cantwell struggled in a loss to Francis Parker but Hendricks showed flashes of long-term potential. The 5-foot-9 lefty is a quick and crafty point guard who used changes of speed and direction to earn paint touches where he finished with craftiness and touch at the rim. Hendricks is a confident and aggressive downhill guard who also played varsity football for the Cardinals. The freshman scored 15 points on Friday.
Luke Hammerschmidt | 2025 | Mira Costa
Hammerschmidt played a big role off the bench for the Mustangs in their win over Crean Lutheran. The 6-foot-7 junior scored an efficient 10 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in limited minutes. Hammerschimdt’s presence inside on both ends of the floor will be an integral part of Mira Costa’s success in the postseason.
Miles Harnish | 2025 | Pacifica Christian/OC
There are two things you can expect from a Pacifica Christian reserve player: 1. They’re going to play hard and 2. They will make open threes. That’s exactly what the 6-foot-5 Harnish did for the Tritons Friday as he scored 11 points, with two three-pointers, as Pacifica fell to St. Pius.
