Prep Hoops Florida scouts will be on the grounds of the event. Here are some of the top juniors to watch for this weekend:
The 6-8 junior wing has length, athleticism and can score at a high level where he is gaining attention from several programs. Abaev is very creative when he has the basketball in his hands whether he can facilitate or shoot it at a high level. He is considered one of the highly touted wings in the state regardless of class year, as his potential has continued to skyrocket. On the defensive side, Abaev continues to showcase his versatility where he can defend multiple positions using his length and quickness to cover a ton of ground.
The 6-7 small forward is quick, long and very athletic on the offensive end where he does a good job at scoring off put-backs and drop-offs on the interior. Mayfield has improved his outside shooting game where he can impact the game as well. On the defensive end, Mayfield does a great job when it comes to rim protection as well as running the floor in transition. He continues to draw interest from several mid-major D-1 schools.
Tate Darner is one of the sharpest perimeter shooters in the state for the junior class. Darner plays at a high level where he can occasionally run the point guard position with his high IQ. He has a knack for knocking down open shots at a high percentage as well as defend at a high level. On the defensive side, Darner can defend against b0th guard positions as he moves laterally exceptionally well and can rebound well for his size. He’s well on his way to start picking up some major offers as his junior season is just getting started.
The 6-5 junior wing is a high-level prospect for his class as he brings a physical presence on the boards and can defend out on the perimeter as well. He has a solid frame bringing good length and versatility where he can play multiple positions on the offensive end. He has quickly developed his game and is becoming more of a viable scoring threat across all three levels.
A 6-7 junior power forward is becoming a true inside-out threat where he can score off the catch as well as off the bounce at a high level. Lewis also showcases great length on the defensive end where he can guard multiple positions and is quick to cover a lot of ground. He also has a smooth handle for his size where he can occasionally bring the basketball up the floor on the offensive end. He also has a knack where he can score off put-backs or lobs thrown at the front of the rim as well. He also brings a ton of athleticism and length where he can block shots at the front of the rim as well as challenge shots without fouling.
The 5-8 point guard shows a lot of quickness when he has the basketball in his hands where he is always making the right plays. He is at his absolute best when he is attacking downhill to the basket finishing with contact. He can also display his game where he is impacting the game shooting from the perimeter as well. Morris will look to share the primary point guard duties this upcoming season at Wesley Chapel
The 6-6 rising junior has good size and plays with a high motor on both ends of the floor. Out on the perimeter, Martin can play on-the-ball and off-the-ball at a high level as he brings a ton of quickness for his size as well as length where he can force up a tough shot. On the offensive end, Martin has good mechanics to finish efficiently around the rim as well as bring a pure mid-range game. Martin just recently picked up an offer from TCU earlier this week.
