The Catholic League has no shortage of talented players. So there are always new names emerging into stardom. This article focuses on upperclassmen who could make their mark in the 2023-25 season.

Sebastian Edwards 6'3 G 2025 Roman Catholic

Making his varsity debut, Edwards has been patiently waiting in the cut and now it's his time. He spent the previous two seasons developing on JV before a standout summer with [program_tooltip program_id='2078678' first='East' last='Coast Power'] HGSL 16U. The athletic combo guard can score on or off-ball, adding versatility to the Cahillites. He could shake out as the guy in their backcourt.

[player_tooltip player_id='1460800' first='Jordan' last='Ellerbee'] | 6'2 G 2025 St. Joe's Prep

Ellerbee was the ultimate sixth man as a sophomore — talented enough to be a starter, humble enough to buy into the role, and important enough to close games. With his motor, he can play at a gear that others can't. The energy he brings to the defensive end is intense. Ellerbee is comfortable playing off of others but he has some juice as a tough shot-maker too.

[player_tooltip player_id='2292584' first='Sebastien' last='Khan'] | 6'3 G 2025 Conwell-Egan

The Australia-native might be a mystery for those who haven't seen Egan this fall. They've been quietly building the program and Khan is their newest ambassador. He's very skilled at picking and getting to his spots in the mid-range, and he has good mechanics on his jumper. The Eagles will rely heavily on him in the half court.

[player_tooltip player_id='1382983' first='Deuce' last='Maxey'] | 6'2 G 2025 Archbishop Wood

After being a key rotation player last season, Maxey is coming into his own. He is sneaky athletic, plays with an attitude, and is a scrappy team defender. Most notably, he can get hot from behind the arc. Maxey understands how to find his shots within the offense. If he sees one three go in, he can hit them in bunches.

[player_tooltip player_id='1188626' first='Keon' last='Mtume-Long'] | 6'3 G 2025 Neumann-Goretti

Mtume-Long joins the Saints after putting up big numbers at MLK during his sophomore campaign. He'll likely come off the bench. But, because he has a high feel for the game, that won't be a problem. A smart, fluid defender and connective passer who can make open shots, Mtume-Long meshes in any of NG's lineups. Expect him to play starter-level minutes.

[player_tooltip player_id='1187903' first='Kyree' last='Womack'] | 5'10 G 2024 Bonner-Prendie

Coming over from Chester to reunite with [player_tooltip player_id='1477716' first='Kevin' last='Rucker'] Jr, Womack is already carving out a role for himself with the Friars. He doesn't need a ball-screen to create space, but he's effective in PNR. His experience as floor general is invaluable because he can get his teammates the ball where they're threats to score. Womack can help Bonner win a game without putting up huge stats of his own.

Other Potential Breakout Players

[player_tooltip player_id='1990791' first='Ben' last='Costello'] | 6'4 W 2024 Devon Prep

[player_tooltip player_id='1874206' first='Reece' last='Craft'] | 6'5 F 2025 Devon Prep

[player_tooltip player_id='1848533' first='Ryan' last='Everett'] | 6'0 G 2024 Archbishop Ryan

Kenny Gatling | 6'5 F/C 2025 Bonner-Prendie

Mike Green | 6'1 G 2025 Archbishop Wood

Matt Guokas | 6'3 G/W 2024 Neumann-Goretti

[player_tooltip player_id='1486773' first='Saaid' last='Lee'] | 6'1 G 2025 West Catholic

[player_tooltip player_id='1990920' first='Noah' last='McIntosh'] | 6'4 F 2024 Cardinal O'Hara Aidan Mondragon | 5'8 G 2024 Conwell-Egan

[player_tooltip player_id='2047551' first='Isaiah' last='Muhammad'] | 6'4 F 2025 West Catholic

Nick Parisi | 6'2 G 2025 La Salle College

[player_tooltip player_id='2227000' first='Calvin' last='Smith'] | 6'2 G 2025 Devon Prep
