We see how versatile and flexible the spot is at the small forward position and how teams can get creative with their small forwards. Here are my top small forwards for the 2025 class part II.
Simmons is an electric scorer who can do pretty much anything on the offensive end of the court. His quickness and elite athleticism are what make him a tough guard as he can simply blow by most defenders, especially with his handles. He works the midrange game well and can hit some tough pull-up jump shots. He attacks the rim with force and likes to seek contact to force referees to call the foul. Simmons can sky in for rebounds and can box out taller and stronger players.
Dubois is an excellent catch-and-shoot shooter who can help his team out in so many different ways because of his ability to spread the floor out. At 6’5″ he can shoot over most defenders and will not hesitate to shoot it if left open. Dubois is always moving without the basketball and knows exactly when to cut to the basket. He is a smart player who seems to make the correct pass whenever he is given the ability to be a playmaker.
Highlights
Basquine is a 3-level scorer who can play and guard multiple positions throughout a game. You don’t need to run plays for Basquine as he can put the ball on the floor and get his shot whenever he wants to. He attacks the rim with intensity as he is not afraid to throw it down over anyone in the paint. He can step out to the three-point line and be a threat from there with his catch-and-shoot ability. He can defend anyone on the perimeter with his long 6’6″ size and can guard down low at times as well.
Colwell is a patient player who lets his shots come within the flow of an offense. He does not search for his shots and when he is given the ball he usually takes high-quality open looks. He can get to the rim with ease and can throw the ball down over taller players in the paint. He likes to seek contact on his way to the rim while using his athleticism to hang in the air longer than normal. Colwell has a nice shot from downtown that needs very little room to get it off.
Evans is a force to be reckoned with in the inside zone of the court because of his finishing ability around the rim and his elite rebounding. He crashes the glass at will and can jump over taller players boxing him out to secure rebounds. He has a soft touch around the rim and can finish with ease over smaller players trying to trip the ball away from him. Evans can step out to the three-point line every once in a awhile and will make defenses pay if he is left wide open.
