It brought some of the top 64 prospects in the NWO area together to compete against each other in an invite-only showcase. It had over 50 college scouts in attendance and multiple media members. I will put out four articles about this event. My first in the 2023 Toledo Top 64 Second Team.
Brewer is someone who most people in the Toledo area might not know but he had them leaving the gym talking about. He can flat-out go. Brewer has seemed to get a little taller and bigger than the last time I have seen him play. This was great for him when absorbing contact and creating it when attacking the rim. He was super effective when attacking the rim. Brewer continued to showcase his great midrange game and ability to shoot off the dribble. He has such high elevation and quick release. He led the Red team to a great day.
Highlights
Heck someone when I created the teams kind of forgot about how good he was. He truly is an exceptionally skilled guard. He makes the right decision every time down the court. No one I trust more with their ball in their hands. He is a smaller player in height but he has some really good athleticism. Super quick player. He may have been the player who played the hardest in the entire event. He has a high-arching shot that is nothing but net. He had it going from the first game and continued it all day. He made some very impressive basketball plays. Did all the little things to extraordinary.

This was the second year in a row Jalen Brown went OFF at the Toledo Top 64. He was knocking down a lot of threes with his high elevation and quick-release shot. He seemed to be getting to the rim a lot more often than I remember which was effective. He was making the correct passes and plays. He was very simple and efficient with his touches as well. He didn’t over-dribble at all. Got to his spots and was getting buckets. He played with such high energy and defensive pressure. He is a kid who can do it all.
Highlights
Bays is similar to Brown in a way that he can do it all. Super good size and strength with next-level athleticism. He showcased this all on both ends but what impressed me is he knew his role and how to play with his teammates very quickly. He was the point guard and distributor a lot for his team. A portion he showed he can play at the next level. He was making some next-level reads and passes. One which made the crowd react. Bays was getting the rim and scoring a ton and dishing it out. I am a big fan of Bays’ game and he proved to be one of the top guards in the area on Sunday.
Highlights
Horton just keeps getting more and more comfortable and confident in his game and with his body. He continues to get bigger and stronger making his prospect stock continue to go way up. He showed on Sunday he is one of the best bigs in the area already as a sophomore. He showed really good strength on the defensive end and was a true mismatch for anyone smaller than him. He grabbed a ton of rebounds. He showed a lot of effectiveness going over either shoulder. He plays very hard. If you have watched Alan for a long time you can tell he is starting to figure out how to play the game and how to play his game. His game is dominant.
