A full slate of games is held on Tuesday nights with some top talent and teams participating. I was able to attend on Tuesday, Oct. 24 and here’s a look at some of the top prospects I saw.
1. Donovan Cornelius – LACES 2024
Cornelius is a very solid combo guard; able find that balance between scoring and playmaking. He has good vision in transition hitting cutting teammates. He pushes the pace well too. Very unselfish. A shot creator of the dribble, he can get the pull-up jumper or he can attack the paint and draw contact at the basket. Defensively he’s active in the passing lanes and can force turnovers.
2. Kamron Fontenot – Price 2024
Fontenot can handle the ball for a big forward and was able to make strong, decisive moves to the basket. He was comfortable shooting the little floater off the dribble or taking a step-back jumper. Good screen setter and rolls well to the basket off the pick. Defensively, he acts a shot blocker in the paint.
3. Josh Tsai – West Torrance 2027
Tsai stood out for his rebounding ability. He was able to crash the glass consistently against bigger players. He’s a glue-guy, he made a ton of hustle plays and was constantly beating other players to loose balls and long rebounds. Never tried to do too much and played within his game. Did a good job reading and reacting in the halfcourt.
4. Jeremiah Wilson – Serra 2024
Wilson has a solid pull-up jumper especially in transition at the three-point line. Showed some off the dribble creating in the halfcourt. He has a quick release on his shot and shoots it with confidence. Consistent off the catch when open. A finisher on the break who can also draw contact at the basket and get to the free-throw line.
