Ranking incoming Freshman is some sort of guesswork. A lot is depending on how some of these young prospects grow, and how quickly, and how much. So there is some speculation and the rankings will change drastically going forward. With prospects improving or growing to ideal size. Size and length matter to college coaches and the rankings are based off of how the prospects are and should be recruited.
How does the class shake up?
The class doesn’t consist of a bunch of D1 prospects, but there are a large number of recruitable prospects. Some solid size at around the 6’4” range, some 6’2”-6’4” upside wings, and some solid guard play.
Below is my take on some of the prospects in the top 10 that I know best and have seen the most.
#1 Brant sits at #1 overall because he’s got the most complete package. Decent size and length with a skilled game, where he can fill it up and score in all ways, being an accurate and aggressive shooter from three. He takes open shots and he doesn’t pass them up. Pull-up midrange. I wouldn’t say he’s in his own tier or way above the rest, but he doesn’t have many holes to his recruiting profile.
#2 Porisch got AA varsity tick as an eighth-grader for Huron, because of his next-level length and oozing potential. Saw him online for Huron and he’ll make an even bigger impact this season.
#4 Prep Hoops Dakotas thinks highly of this lefty out of Vermillion. He has some size and length, with a skilled handle and deadly 3-ball. He can score and create, and is also a successful passer.
#5 Drake is 6’4” and if he keeps getting taller he could become a very impactful player and a certified top recruit. Already good length and runs well, high motor, and will finish off the glass regularly.
#6 Colby is a kid I really like. Big potential from the wing spot, sitting at 6’3” length and a surprising skill set. One of the top upside wings.
Highlights
#7 Terwilliger has a great size, motor, and finishing profile. Comes down with boards, and is a tough and high-percentage finisher at the hoop. Played and started for Team Warwick ‘s #1 team this past offseason. If he continues to grow, he’ll be tough to handle in the paint.
#8 Painter played point for Team Warwick #1 and has a strong and big 6’2” frame. He’s got a matured body and strength. Gives heavy pressure defensively and is a skilled passer and a high-volume scorer.
Highlights
#9 Connor is the most gifted and skilled prospect with the ball in the 2027 class. The only limitation on him is his size. He has the ball on a string, with elite passing and court vision. A great and consistent shooter all over the court.
