The final weekend of Top 250 Expo action saw four states host events. One of those was Georgia – the final southeastern state to host such a showcase for the 2023 calendar. Illinois, Indiana and Kansas also played host to similar get-togethers.
LakePoint Sports in Bartow County was overflowing with talent – and the roster that was lined up for Team 7 was no exception to that rule.

As play began on the boys portion of the schedule, Pickering started opening eyebrows as someone to keep one’s eyes on. When his Team 7 matched up against Team 10 in one of the first contest of the afternoon, the opposition had no answer for Pickering. He proved he could score at all three levels and had no problems drawing contact to get to the free throw line. He combines his scoring prowess with a high basketball IQ. The Wolverines put together a 20-10 season last year. Pickering may have had a bit more of a trek to get to this year’s Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo than most that were on attendance, but he proved he was not fazed by the additional travel.
When play started during the travel season where Pace ran with Atlanta Xpress , he was coming off a freshman campaign that saw his 7A Norcross bunch compile a 26-5 record. Pace displayed exactly why the Blue Devils can expect to keep their winning ways going in 2022-23. He displayed plenty of accuracy from long range and managed to connect on plenty of attempts inside the perimeter as well. Pace stands at 6-foot-1 and primarily operates as a one in the backcourt. He places plenty of emphasis on handling the ball and can get creative from time to time with how he finishes at the rim.

Seckinger HS was only founded last season. Thanks to standout performers like Wells, the 4A Jaguars look to continue the winning ways that they debuted the program with last season. Seckinger finished with a mark of 18-11 last season. Wells is listed at 6-foot-3 and that height advantage can be a useful attribute if a team is looking to bolster its rebounding fortunes. Wells is skilled in dribbling the ball with either his right or his left hand and compliments that with an ability to drain his attempts from long range. Wells wears the uniform of Team Huncho during the AAU spring and summer months.
Basketball fans in the Peach State likely see plenty of Wood Elite during the travel months in the spring and summer. Ellis is a Wood Elite product and one can see through his play why it is one of the more revered club organizations in the state. As accurate as Ellis can be when he has the rock behind the 3-point arc, one can see why he is confident in his ability to sink triples. He compliments that with being able to make thing happen in the midrange game. Ellis is listed at an even six feet. He will also have games where he will haul in his fair share of rebounds.
