We were in attendance for each game and below is a breakdown of some of the top performers we saw.
Louis Bond, 2025, Windward
Bond is kind of the glue guy on the young, talented Windward roster but he broke out of that shell Saturday and provided a spark on both ends of the floor. The 6-foot-3 guard is a quick and shifty downhill driver and finisher whose quick first step makes it difficult for defenders to keep him in front. Bond attacks the basket fearlessly and can score with finesse or power around the rim.
Nik Khamenia Nik Khamenia 6'7" | SF Harvard-Westlake | 2025 State #18 Nation CA-S , 2025, Harvard-Westlake
One of the biggest national stock-risers over the summer is primed for a huge junior season for the preseason No. 1 team in the state. Khamenia is one of the smartest, most skilled and polished basketball players that we have out west and, add in the fact that he’s 6-feet-8 and can shoot perimeter jumpers with consistency, and there’s a reason why he has the college interest that he does.
Peyton White Peyton White 6'5" | SF Crespi | 2025 State CA-S , 2025, Crespi
White is like a college-ready player now playing high school basketball and sometimes it looks a little unfair. The 6-foot-6 forward is built like a Power 5 tight end but has the fluidity and touch of a big time 4/3 man. White, a junior, is a physical interior scorer who rebounds both the offensive and defensive glass, but he can also step out on the perimeter and knock down face-up jumpers or put it on the floor and get to the rim for buckets through contact. The part of White’s game that has come a long way is his rim protecting. Not only does he possess the IQ and athletic tools needed to keep guards out of the lane but he’s also become a heady shot blocker.
Tae Simmons Tae Simmons 6'7" | PF Heritage Christian | 2025 State #104 Nation CA-S , 2025, Heritage Christian
Simmons is another big time athlete with the physical tools of a Power 5 football player who just happens to have plenty of basketball skill in his arsenal. The 6-foot-6 power forward is an active rim-runner and finisher in transition whose hands, strong frame and explosiveness allow him to finish in a variety of ways in the paint. What Simmons does best is play a physical brand of defense and control the defensive glass.
Trent Perry Trent Perry 6'4" | PG Harvard-Westlake | 2024 State #70 Nation CA-S , 2024, Harvard-Westlake
Perry ran the show to perfection for Harvard-Westlake in what started out as a fiery, physical and competitive game against West Ranch. Once the Perry got the Wolverines settled in he was able to pick apart the opponent when running offense, making high level reads in transition or working himself into areas where he got comfortable buckets.
