Prep Hoops Florida is your 365 day a year source for all things high school and grassroots basketball. This week we will be headlining the top uncommitted seniors by position. Today we will headline the top five power forwards still looking for a place to call home for the next three-four years.
Asa Newell, A 6-10 power forward is a true-gifted athlete who has the intangibles to become an NBA prospect. Newell is long and very explosive when it comes to finishing around the rim off the bounce as well as off the catch. His versatile skillset has continued to improve as he is knocking down shots more comfortably from the perimeter. He has increased his quickness as well for his size and is a dominate rebounder on both ends of the floor.
Derik Queen, A 6-9 power forward that has big hands and a big frame playing on the block. His footwork around the paint has continued to improve as he builds a soft touch finishing around the rim. He shows great patience and is strong on the attack where he is unafraid to finish with contact getting to the foul line on numerous occasions. On the defensive end, Queen plays with a high motor and has the versatility where he can guard multiple positions as well as showcase his length out on the perimeter.
Ibrahima Traore, A 6-8 power forward plays with a ton of energy on both ends of the floor where he is an elite rim protector and shot blocker. He’s always making hustle plays, taking charges or dunking in traffic against multiple defenders. Traore has also improved his game where he can knock down shots from the perimeter as well. Traore has recently picked up offers from Florida International, Oregon, Southern Illinois and Texas State in the fall recruitment period.
Diamant Blazi, A 6-8 power forward has a smooth handle for his size and has continued to improve his outside game. Blazi is athletic, long and very versatile on both ends of the floor where he is blocking shots as well as dominating on the glass. On the offensive end, Blazi has a strong knack for finishing around the rim off the bounce as well as off the catch. College coaches need to start taking notice on Blazi as he has a high ceiling of potential to play at the next level.
Highlights
Jacob Hammond, A 6-7 senior power forward is strong and skilled on the offensive end where he can create offense with and without the basketball in his hands.
