The Border League brought teams from across the country to Southern Nevada for a three-day event which was loaded with top team and individual matchups. In this piece we take a closer look at the top performing wing playmakers from the weekend.
Andrew Hilman Andrew Hilman 6'4" | SG Archbishop Riordan | 2026 State CA-N , 2026, Archbishop Riordan
Hilman has yet to crack the “national” scene when it comes to rankings but the 6-foot-4 sophomore will soon be on those radars. Hilman is a long, athletic slasher and finisher whose body control and creativity around the rim makes him an efficient paint scorer. Hilman is also an effective driver out of face-up situations. His jabs into an explosive first step allows him to get defenders off balance and opens up driving lanes for him to attack.
Bryce Cofield Bryce Cofield 6'4" | SF Sierra Canyon | 2025 State #372 Nation CA-S , 2024, Sierra Canyon
Cofield is one of the more strong, physical and athletic wings out west and his improved control in transition has made him a better playmaker for himself and his teammates. The 6-foot-5 senior is a tough cover when he gets downhill in transition because of his ability to stay on balance through contact and elevate off the floor quickly. When Cofield is locked in he’s also a capable passer and creator for teammates.
Bryson Tucker Bryson Tucker 6'6" | PG Unknown | 2024 State #22 Nation VA , 2024, Bishop O’Connell (VA)
I really liked Tucker’s ability to impact the game in a variety of ways. The wiry 6-foot-6 senior is a point-forward type of guy with his vision, passing, and ability to get in the lane and draw extra defenders. Tucker is also a consistent mid-range jump shooter whose elevation and high release point makes it difficult for defenders to disrupt his shot. The best thing about Tucker’s game is the fact that he didn’t need a high volume of shots and didn’t need to dominate the ball to prove how good he is.
Carter Bryant Carter Bryant 6'8" | SF Corona Centennial (CA) | 2024 State #12 Nation CA-S , 2024, Corona Centennial
Bryant has always been a smart, savvy and high IQ student of the game type of player but at Border League he took the reins as a primary initiator of the Centennial offense. The 6-foot-8 Arizona-commit was knocking down three’s off the catch and off the bounce and flashed his consistent pull-up jumper from 15 to 18 feet. Bryant also exposed mismatches when other teams put their 5-man on him. His ball skills, feel and fluidity allowed him to break those defenders down in isolation, get into the lane and put pressure on the defense.
Cooper Flagg Cooper Flagg 6'9" | PF Montverde Academy | 2024 State #1 Nation FL , 2024, Montverde Academy (FL)
Flagg is widely considered the No. 1 prospect in high school basketball regardless of class and the favorite to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. The 6-foot-9 forward backed up that hype at the Border League and the best way I can think to describe him is a skilled, versatile, high IQ, unselfish shot maker on offense and highly aware, switchable, smart, elite communicator on the defensive end.
