The point guard position is filled with endless talent for 2026 as we will break down what makes these players stars on the court. Here are my top point guards for the 2026 class.
Rippey Jr. is a patient player who takes pride in playing defense. He is an excellent three-point shooter who is always moving without the basketball looking to come off of off-ball screens whenever he can. He’s got a smooth and quick release that needs very little room to get it off. On defense, he likes to play aggressively and apply pressure on his assignment the moment the ball is tipped off. Rippey Jr. will pick anyone up full court and has great timing on when to attempt a steal.
Rosa is a shot maker and is very creative with how he gets his shots up within an offense. He has tight and shifty handles that he uses to get anywhere on the court. His pull-up game in the midrange and three-point range is as smooth as it gets with him hitting contested shots with full confidence. Rosa will look to get into the paint using his quickness to blow by perimeter defenders to create some impressive athletic finishes. He also will look to but his teammates in the best position to score with his passing skills.
Highlights
Grant can do everything on the offensive end and does not have any noticeable weaknesses as of now. His handles are how he will get most of his points as he looks to break defenders down and leave them in the dust to get open shots. He will wait for plays to develop before attacking mismatches that are on him. His finishing ability around the rim is fantastic with his soft touch with both hands and how he creates extra space putting a body on a defender to go straight up with the ball. Grant’s three-point shooting should be respected too as he will not hesitate to take the shot if the defenders hand it down.
Holman is a defensive stopper that you can put on anyone on the perimeter and will lock them down giving offensive players zero room to do anything. He has great timing and instincts on when to poke the ball free and likes to wrap around offensive players and take the ball from behind while they aren’t looking. He intercepts passing lanes like a free safety in football. On offense, he will look to be a spot-up shooter from deep and attack the rim any chance he gets.
Highlights
Lin can score the basketball with some of the best in his class as he can get hot in a hurry with his shooting ability. At 6’3″ he can be a tough guard for many guards as he has a quick and high release making it a challenge to get a good contest up. He is automatic from the wings and likes to get into the midrange to draw double teams to kick out to open teammates. He can finish around the rim with both hands while making some very athletic moves to get his shot up. Lin can also be a problem on defense for offensive players because of his size and how he can disrupt the perimeter and the passing lanes.
