With the PrepHoops NC Top 250 Expo still to come this weekend, I’m excited to get my eyes on all attendees who signed up for the event. However, while glancing through our attendees list, I’ve come across some names I’ve either seen a while ago or those I’ve never seen before that I’m excited to monitor their progress. Check out a half dozen of those that I’ve written about below.

Lee Podger Lee Podger 6'6" | PF Cary | 2026 State NC
Podger is an interesting name to know from the 919 area, as the Cary native has the tools to turn into a useful mobile forward. He wows many with his shooting ability, but also has the athleticism to be able to play out of the high post and in the middle of the floor. He’s got enough mobility to attack defenders hips and create with the ball in his hands, making him a useful player that can create for himself. Only played 3 varsity games last year, but should be primed for a bigger role this upcoming season.
Sutherland should be one of the best performers at the camp this weekend and should be on more coaches radars for their upcoming recruiting class. He’s a guy who plays extremely hard and has some impressive athleticism to boot. He protects the rim with authority on defense and is not someone who gets beat easily either on the perimeter or post. Offensively he’s a threat to the rim as a lob threat and a roller out of ball screens. He’s got good touch around the rim as well when he can’t viciously throw the ball down. He’s a D1 player for someone, it just remains to be seen where it will be.
Joseph Bruce
Joseph Bruce
Bruce is a shooter who has had some impressive performances as a younger player and should be expected to have a breakout year this season. Definitely is circled on many scouting reports as a knockdown shooter first, who will get his coming off screens or off others drive and kicks. Also has become better as a playmaker for others over the course of the summer, looking more comfortable with the ball in his hands. Pretty good passer with the ability to throw it up there for his teammates. Will be excited for his junior year as a focal point at Pine Lake Prep.
Elite sniper who is considered a top shooter in NC, but really knows how to score the ball beyond that. With the obvious, he’s got a quick trigger and knows how to get his shot off in a variety of situation. Deep, deep range on his shot as well. More and more aggressive these days as a pure scorer, not just someone who fires threes. Able to craftily finish in the paint with a variety of moves, such as floaters or up and under finishes to flummox defenders. Should have a big junior season as the leader of his team.
Highlights
Gavin Palmore
Gavin Palmore
Palmore is an impressive wing prospect who should see more action for Ben L Smith this upcoming year. His physicality he brings to the court comes from his football background where he dominates people with his strength and athleticism at his size. Very good leaper and can play above the rim, as evidenced by some rim rattling dunks all summer long. No stranger to playing hard either, where you can see his competitiveness shine on the defensive end especially. Continuing to build his offensive game, but his intangibles and athleticism combine to make a pretty impressive player right now.

Walker is a guy who oozes potential after I’ve seen him play a couple times this summer. He’s long, lanky, and able to run the floor hard which makes him an ideal 4 man or big wing for colleges. He’s able to drive the ball hard to the rim and make plays there, whether it’s taking off for a dunk or finishing with an array of moves. Still working on becoming more fluid and developing a perimeter game, but he’s a project that should come closer to completion this upcoming season. I’ll be interested to see how he performs this weekend.
