Continue ReadingGorman will need both shooting and scoring. The freshman should be the perfect fit. Like many young players he will have to be taught the ropes on the defensive end, however his offensive value can’t be overlooked.
Like Nikolov, Johnson will be cutting his teeth for the Gaels this season. He has several traits, however his most valuable one is probably his speed. Expect the PG to be one of the fastest players from end to end throughout the season.
Parker is a do it all type, that should have a tremendous impact, for whoever he takes the floor for this season. His best trait is his effort, as he plays super hard. Expect him to be a valuable rebounder and versatile defender this season.
Don’t be surprised if people are talking about Cooper as the cream of the class when it’s all said and done. He plays with terrific fundamentals, and has a high IQ. He’s another Gorman performer that will be thrown into the fire early on.
Highlights
I really liked what I saw from Smartt when I saw him this summer. The long forward shows that he can effect the game on several ends. He’s got size and athleticism, so his rim protection is obvious. What’s impressive is his skill, as he’s shown the ability to grab and go after snagging defensive rebounds.
Mulal will team up with Smartt to form one of the toughest interior 1-2 punches in the state. He’s still a pretty raw player, however he plays hard and has willingness to get better. Look for the young sophomore to make an impact this season.
Playing a hunch on this one, but Johnson saw valuable varsity time as a freshman at Spring Valley last season. Expect for that experience to pay off this year. He’s a blur with the basketball, and has spent the summer improving his defense and shooting. Look for him to have a big impact this year.
Arbor View is so loaded this year, that it is quite possible that Dickel could improve but still not see significant minutes. As it is, he has the talent to be a terrific floor general. His ability to protect and defend the ball, will probably earn him an opportunity for the Aggies.
It would not come as a surprise at all if Inocenio was one of the most exciting new players in the state. The PG has some serious wiggle and is a talented shot maker. Looking forward to a breakthrough season from the PG.
One of the most exciting backcourts in the state will be found in 2A. Cornachio will team with fellow sophomore Matthew Cummins Matthew Cummins 5’8″ | PG Lake Mead Christian Academy | 2026 State NV to provide a terrific interior 1-2 punch. He’s a highly competitive Gym Rat, that will provide shooting and ballhandling for the team.
