There are usually very few college coaches at any given showcase this time of year and the events are put on to simply attract numbers, build a little brand recognition, and generate revenue. However, there are also a few diamonds in the rough. The annual Elite Camps held at the University of Indianapolis are absolutely one of the few events worth your time and money. There are REAL college coaches, even aside of the UIndy staff, working the event and even more in attendance to take in the action. On Friday evening, I had boots on the ground to cover the first of five sessions throughout the weekend. Let’s take a look at some of the top performers.
This is almost becoming redundant. An event occurs and Eli Ellis Eli Ellis 5’11” | SG Plainfield | 2024 State IN finds himself on the top performer list. However, it can’t be denied that he was one of the more impressive prospects on Friday evening at Session I of the UIndy Elite Camp. The smaller guard did what he does best…shoot the absolute lights out. There is no stopping him when he gets hot from beyond the arc.
Highlights
Something that stands out with this 6’5″ forward from Concordia Lutheran at an event like the UIndy Elite Camp is his motor. Hayworth plays hard at all times which means he is constantly involved in the action at both ends of the floor. He will rebound the ball, run the floor hard, score around the basket, or attack closeouts off of the dribble to finish above the rim. One of the best college prospects in the gym on Friday night.
Highlights
Another standout guard from the event, Jamison had it cooking from three-point range both in the early transition progression drill and when the games started later on Friday night. He showcased improved perimeter shooting ability especially off of the dribble. Jamison is a smaller guard, but has a strong build which allows him to absorb contact well when handling the ball. Big time scorer.
This 6’0″ guard just kept coming back for more on Friday night at the UIndy Elite Camp. Whether it was attacking the basket off of the bounce or shooting it in from beyond the arc, Loy was scoring it consistently. His ability to creatively finish with both hands at the end of his drives as a smaller guard was really impressive. The Class of 2025 prospect from Adair County (KY) High School really stood out.

One of the most purely skilled guards at Session I of the UIndy Elite Camp, Schmitz had his playmaking ability on display early and often on Friday night. The high-academic point guard was passing the ball with both hands at the end of his drives and shooting the ball very well from three-point range. He is a very efficient offensive player as a high percentage scorer and high-assist, low-turnover ball handler.

Swan is a 6’0″ guard that got hot from beyond the arc as the event came to a close on Friday night. The Tipton High School star started hitting pull-up three-point attempts in transition while also distributing the ball at the end of his drives when he would penetrate into the paint. His playmaking ability allows him to play both on or off of the ball.
