An imposing body in the paint. Active athletic player. Outstanding rebounder on both ends of the floor. Plays a physical game can score inside with physicality. Great potential with his size and desire.
The transfer from Long Island settled in nicely in the CHSAA last season. As he got more comfortable his game rose and so did the Stepinac program. A strong presence in the post offensively or defensively. Uses his long frame to help defend and protect the rim. Offensively does a good job in pick and roll situations showing hands catching in traffic. Terrific at cleaning up misses. Can put the ball on the floor and get to the rim off of 2-3 dribbles.
Patrick can defend the paint and be a very good rim protector . He is able to display his athleticism on both ends of the floor. Very explosive driver of the ball with ability to finish through traffic. Also shows good footwork scoring off the block.
A really good post defender. Understands guarding in the paint is about using your lower half as a strong base. Refuses to let opponents set up post position by meeting them early at the foul line. Very capable of guarding the perimeter as well. Offensively can knock down the 15 footer. Very good inside showing good hands and gaining position to score at the rim.
Not many big post in the 26 rankings but the two we picked are probably 2 of the top big man even if you were including every class year. The Big O is that impressive. He is a strong big body who can defend the post and the rim. Rebounds in traffic or by clearing space. There are a lot of big guys now a days who shy away from contact in the post not Oesoemano. He likes the physical contact and scores or rebounds through it. He has a soft touch from outside which he has been improving on each time we’ve seen him. I think it was always there he just had to get more confident and comfortable shooting the three. Through hard work he is now drilling them.
At the CHSAA team camp Caleb was very impressive showing off his skills to many for the first time. He was an elite rim protector. Great frame and strength. Showed excellent timing and instincts in blocking shots without fouling. Outstanding rebounder. Ran the floor hard and with a purpose. Showed good fundamentals in scoring inside with either hand and really good footwork. Is becoming very capable of hitting the mid range jumper and through his work ethic that should add another dimension to his game.
